I've bought myself some new bras today but they look horrible!
My measurements are rib cage 31 inches, and around the nipple I'm 35 inches. I made this a 32C but I think it should have been a 32D?

I used to wear 36A but they always gaped around the cups when I leant forward. Today I tried a 34B and they fit better but they give me fat spilling out at the side of the cups and around the band. I don't think a smaller band would go around me. I'm a size 10/12 but quite broad.

What size should I try to avoid fat rolls and make my boobs look good? The 34B made me look quite flat.

I think you should have been trying 32D, or even 30DD. B and C cups won't contain your boobs, which will have to go elsewhere, namely your back and sides. Are you anywhere near a Bravissimo to get fitted?

I suspect the smaller bands feel really really right because the cup isn't big enough. The cups "steal" from the band apparently, so in a big enough cup a 32 band would feel snug but not restrictive.

Right I'm going to go and try a 32D and a 30DD if I can find that size and see how they look on.
No Bravissimo nearby unfortunately.

Have you got a JL, HoF or Debenhams nearby? Debenhams own brand (Gorgeous) comes up small in the band so you may need a 32 in that make.

Are you scooping?

Knackeredmum13 · 29/08/2014 10:21

I have a Debenhams. Do they measure properly?

I'm not scooping, what should I be doing?

Some Debenhams have a good fitting service and some don't (where they use the +4/5" method), it's a bit hit and miss.

Scooping (from the Bra Guru blog):
"Lean forward, drop your breasts in to the cups and do the bra up at the back. Now, take your right hand, put it round inside the left cup, all the way round under your armpit, and scoop all the soft tissue and flesh in to the cup. You might not know it, but all that soft tissue under your armpit is breast, and it needs to be in the cup. Now, repeat on the other side. The wire should totally encase your soft breast tissue, and you should have no overspill or wrinkling in the cups. The central gore should sit flat in between your boobs."
