Darker patches on face - how to remove/disguise them?

I've got a few patches of what I can only assume is darker pigmentation and they're really bothering me especially one near my top lip which is give me a bit of a moustache look - not flattering! Is there anything (cheapish) that will help get rid of them?

I have similar problem Cambridge, I just put concealer on area (below bottom lip) leave it for 5 mins, then put on some Bobbi Brown CC (Colour Corrector) cream over entire face, its great to even out skin tone.

If you have any over lip hair, get rid of it before hand otherwise it might really look like you have a moustache. HTH

Its called chloasma. If you go to your doctor you can get a referral and they can prescribe skin bleach to use on the darker areas. Only problem is it'll get dark again if you go in the sun without a block Sad
I use bare minerals but unfortunately doesn't cover enough so have learned to live with it but interested in any suggestions...

I have a couple of these patches on my cheek. They're age spots from sun damage I think. I've been using a pigment control serum by la Roche posay which is definitely helping. They are almost faded to nothing now. I bought it from Escentual and there is a Vichy one on there which has really good reviews as well.
You will need to wear a high factor sunscreen daily to prevent them coming back or worsening. I use la roche posay sp50 again from Escentual.

You can get sciton laser therapy, I've had it, the patches kind of go darker and then come off. I had a special offer and it's really popular here in the USA mostly for skin resurfacing and plumping but I lost my freckles too!

Got these patches too, currently have Bravura's glycolic peel and it's starting to help. Lots of sunscreen every day helps

It's chloasma and probably hormonal. You need to make sure that you always wear SPF 30 or above without fail or it will get worse.

There's a chance it will resolve spontaneously if your hormones change eg stopping the pill.

Other than that options aren't cheap - laser or prescription bleaching cream (likely that in many areas this would be considered too cosmetic to be on the NHS).

Vichy Dermablend concealer and foundation to cover it + SPF is your cheapest bet.

I used to use Secret Camouflage by Laura Mercier, it's not cheap but it did work.

I suspect too much sun and not enough protection is at the root of it, as well as being at a certain age . It's nowhere near as bad as the images of chloasma I just Googled but still a pita. Thanks for the suggestions though, will give some of them a go.

Yes, if you google age spots the main reason is over exposure to sun.
Get yourself a sunblock and a dark spot serum. It does help.

I have these too and I use Collection Lasting Perfection concealer topped with loose powder, don't need any foundation.

It is sun related as mine go away in the winter, starting to fade now
