5 items to refresh your wardrobe-what would you choose?

I would like to get some new clothes but don't know where to start. If you were to buy 5 things, what would they be? After 2 DC I feel that I don't know what is in fashion at the moment and would like to look a bit more up to date-with styles, colours etc (My budget is high street). Looking forward to hearing people's ideas.

Right now I'd personally choose:
a huge tartan scarf
a bright pink jumper
grey ankle boots
a grey jumper
some fantastic flat shoes in either black or grey (failing so far in finding exactly what I want)

I'd get

A navy peacoat
Flat riding boots
Scarf - maybe tartan
Pencil skirt
Trench

Some oxblood ankle boots - I believe that's what we're calling burgundy this season

A tartan scarf - am sensing a theme here.

Some cashmere jumpers.

A silk shirt.

A chanel handbag [dreaming]

Oxblood boots sound wonderful!
