Do I need to be skinny to wear this for a wedding?

Is it boring? It's cheap but will it flatter a big bust? www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/dresses/flared-short-sleeved-dress-c269185p2032569.html

I'm a size 8-10 and take 34 bra. It happens!

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2014 16:22

It does minkah, an awful lot, is almost invariably a result of bad fitting at M&S. Under bust measurement = band size (and has for years) at an 8-10 I'd be amazed if you actually measure 34.

PacificDogwood · 24/08/2014 16:24

I have this one - may be your colour?
It's Pepperberry, but v flattering and silk and not expensive.
I've also got it in black
I'm a size 14 34G boobage after a bra interventions, previously 36DD Grin

KristinaM · 24/08/2014 16:26

Then I love being unconventional

And wearing a bra that supports my boobs under the band rather than all the weight being on my shoulders

tethersend · 24/08/2014 16:28

What's your budget?

how about something like this?

tethersend · 24/08/2014 16:41

Not pink but lovely

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/08/2014 16:44

2nd one looks like a man (or indeed woman) with blue paint on his (her) hands has tried to grab norks from behind and missed.

Sorry, Tethers! Grin

First one is good.

tethersend · 24/08/2014 16:56

Grin I can't look at it without thinking that now!

Also this could be good.

Onedropoflove · 24/08/2014 17:04

I not bothered about the colour I just can't do pastels

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/08/2014 17:11

Sorry, was confused by the pale pink Boden dress Confused

any good?

Onedropoflove · 24/08/2014 17:55

Love the ASOS dress

The boden link would only show the pale pink colour

What should I wear with the green ASOS dress?

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/08/2014 18:50

Depends...what's your colouring?

CromerSutra · 24/08/2014 19:15

Tethersend, your first post beautifully sums up the big boob dilema I've been trying to articulate for some time !

Castlemilk · 24/08/2014 19:21

Agree that the first dress is a NO for big boobs.

Your head will look like it's been abandoned to die in the pitiless boob tundra wastes.

I also have boobage and find that wrap dresses really don't suit - sorry!

Like the Furstenberg one and the Reiss Garbo one.

tethersend · 24/08/2014 19:38

God Cromer, I'd die of boredom if I thought I had to wear a v neck every day. Some days I want to cover up. SOME days, I even wear a polo neck Shock

KristinaM · 24/08/2014 19:56

< faints > at thought of tethers norks in a polo neck

Darquesse · 24/08/2014 20:05

I think the colour is gorgeous but it could look matronly with that neckline. A huge statement necklace could work wonders though and they are quite fashionable at the moment.

A few people on this thread need to pop into bravissimo I used to wear a 34dd, U am actually a 30f and the difference wearing the correct size bra makes is amazing!

florascotia · 24/08/2014 20:14

I think the trouble might be not only chest size but overall scale. The model is young with a bird-like frame. I have similar-scale friends who (unintentionally, of course) make me feel like a flipping giant. So did one of my best friends at school. I'm tall and hourglass and have had bigger bones than the lassie in that photo since I was about 12 years old. Even if I were skinny, I'd look like I'd dressed up in 'little girl' clothes if I wore that frock. Tis a nice colour, however, and I like the pleats.

So to answer your question, if you're (say) 5 ft 2 in and slightly built, you could be quite curvy and get away with it.

Onedropoflove · 24/08/2014 22:55

That reiss one would not flatter me at all. I aintca size 8

Because the bra intervention rules don't work for everyone. I've tried it and I just end up buying extenders to make the stupid things comfortable. To get the tiny bands they suggest to fit I'd need F Cups at least. The cups aren't even 1/2 filled and I can't wear most of my tops because the cups stick out the top.

Anyway OP I like the first dress, the Boden ones are frummy and totally over priced.

SorrelForbes · 24/08/2014 23:21

ElephantsNeverForgive cups being only 1/2 filled and too high for tops suggest a style issue do rather than size. Did you try half cup and balconette styles?

Kablooger · 25/08/2014 08:06

Wrap dressss make big tits look huger. Like two torpedoes split by a line. It's like wearing a cross over bag

ElephantsNeverForgive · 25/08/2014 19:31

Balconette styles have rigid cups, much as I like them, I'm left with room to stick a iPad mini as well as my phone in them.

SorrelForbes · 25/08/2014 22:41

I only wear Balconettes and none of them have rigid cups. You can buy all styles with moulded (rigid) cups but they are tricky to get a good fit with. Have you tried any of the Freya or Bravissimo half cups? What about the Cleo unpadded styles (Marcie, Bella etc.)?

Dontgotosleep · 26/08/2014 09:27

No, infact I think you'd need to carry a bit of weight for the dress to look good. To be honest the dress just hangs on the model.
It's a lovely dress.
