Wise S&B people, can anyone recommend me some decent thick full length leggings - need to be on the waist and not fall down as don't want to be hoiking them up over my muffin tops all day. Ideally need to be fairly cheap please Smile

Thanks Thanks

Asda 6 pound a pair. Or the marks and spencer 9.50 ones are good too.

BigArea · 19/08/2014 20:01

Euphemia are they the ones I've head about before that are £12?

i bought the asda modal ones a few years back- the wide elastic in the waistband twisted after one wash. i'd have had to cut the fabric, straighten it and restitch and i cba

dun1urkin · 19/08/2014 20:26

Topshop heavyweight leggings
Might seem pricey (£18), but I've had some for years and they don't sag, go see through etc etc, much better value for money than cheaper ones I've made the mistake of buying.

does this link work?

woollytights · 19/08/2014 21:50

Yep, the topshop ones. Mine have lasted years too

Hassled · 19/08/2014 21:53

M&S had some with a really solid, thick waistband which are excellent.

WorkingBling · 19/08/2014 21:56

Yy to the marks and spencer ones. I buy the thermal ones. I live in them. Under trousers and jeans in winter. Under skirts in summer. So comfy.

WorkingBling · 19/08/2014 21:56

Oh, and I am a real apple with way too much extra weight around my waist. And they still don't fall down.

TessTackle · 19/08/2014 21:56

H&m £7.99 NOT the 5.99 ones.
The good ones feel like a sweatshirt from the inside.

velourvoyageur · 19/08/2014 22:04

Must they be cheap? :(
Leggings are an investment!

Is....£38 cheap enough?...
I swear they will last you forever and they're everything you're looking for in a legging, pinky swear and promise.

American Apparel winter leggings. Brilliance in garment form, honestly, when you see them you'll see what I mean. And they're not that wintery you only have to wear them when it's cold. And they come in different colours. They're perfect. I've bought loads of pairs and nothing comes close.
But Mint Velvet is okay, quite a bit cheaper I think, but not as good as ^^ the abovementioned miracle!

velourvoyageur · 19/08/2014 22:08

Topshop used to be perfect but they've changed now...I was too upset when their new ones arrived and they were all sliding and tight in the wrong places and not elastic or thick enough. They really are a challenge, leggings, Topshop were perfect and they changed it and kept the price Angry

TessTackle · 19/08/2014 22:10

I like the sound of those American apparel ones!

creamhearts · 19/08/2014 22:10

Sainburys leggings are brilliant get the £10 ones not the two for £10

BigArea · 19/08/2014 22:26

Wow they do sound amazing but we are proper skinto at the moment - leggings are needed for my lovely new job starting in sept :)

So I'm liking sainsburys M&S and Top Shop - not sure whether to discount top shop based on subsequent posts? And am baffled by M&S range - only thermal ones I can see are sort of knitted. Is it the Modal ones you have?

Will invest in Topshop if anyone has bought them recently - since you've had yours for yonks dun and wooly I'm assuming you don't have newer ones?

Who knew leggings were so complicated?

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 19/08/2014 22:29

Agree Toppers heavy ones. Only leggings I buy now.

BigArea · 19/08/2014 22:41

Gunpowder have you bought some this season? Just concerned by what velour said about them being different although suspect she works for American Apparel Grin

OP posts:
dun1urkin · 19/08/2014 22:47

Tis true that I've not bought any for a couple of years, because, ya know, I've not needed to Grin

So I can't say for certain they haven't changed. But it has to be the heavyweight ones. The others (and they have loads) don't cut it.

BigArea · 19/08/2014 22:49

Thanks dun your link worked so at least I know I'm looking at the right ones Smile

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 19/08/2014 22:50

I last bought some in January, still fab. They are the ones with a thick waistband and have seams running down them (not obvious, though.) They are high waisted and hold everything in which is fab Smile

Haven't bought any A/W 14 yet as waiting for the cold weather.

BigArea · 19/08/2014 22:53

Great thanks gunpowder I shall order some (feel like I'm splashing out but sounds like it's worth it) Thanks Smile

I have just replaced my Next leggings on a shopping trip home to the UK.

They have great waistbands - thick enough not to roll down, and great coverup.

I was disappointed that one of the knees laddered, until I remembered I bought them when DS was 4. (vivid memory of him running into the open elevator when I was paying at the cash desk).

DS is 9 now. So pretty good going! Grin

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 19/08/2014 22:55

Yay! Hope you like them. I've got three colours as so comfy.

CointreauVersial · 20/08/2014 00:41

Next £18 leggings. Nice and substantial. DD1 wears them with her crop tops, and at least I know no-one can see her knickers. Hmm

BigArea · 21/08/2014 18:43

Just to say I nipped into Sainsbo's today and they were doing 25% off clothes! So I've bought the modal ones for £7.50 (bargain!) and they seem really good. May invest in Topshop when I'm working again Smile
