So I have decided I need to have a capsule work wardrobe to save time in a morning and make sure I turn up looking like I have actually thought about what I am wearing! I'm an early years teacher 5ft7 and size 14. I am thinking of a combination of black jeggings (I have 1 pair already that do t look to jeans like) long sleeved tops that are long in the body and won't shrink or go all misshapen, or skater dresses with wide belts and leggings ( I have leggings already too) long thin type material cardigans and cowls, scarves and some nice chunky bracelets. I have long brown boots to wear autumn winter and brown leather sandals and pumps for spring summer. Apparently I suit rich deep colours so I'm thinking navy, mustard, teal type colours.
I have found some skater dresses that look ok and have good reviews on boohoo that happen to be cheap too so can buy a few colours of them but I can't seem to find tops, cardigans, belt that I like or that tick all the boxes anywhere, any suggestions? Or improvements to my ideas?

can I ask why you're keen on leggings/jeggings? is a comfort factor when teaching?

Yes, I spend most of my day sitting on the floor or on tiny chairs and I find waistbands dig in and are uncomfortable after a whole day of that. Leggings are comfy and stretchy, just what I need.

would you consider soft trousers like these? peg trousers

bibbetybobbityboo · 15/08/2014 10:19

I'd definitely try them, as long as they are comfy and look good I'm happy!

those with a slouchy jumper or something like this rib and some shoe boots

My internet is running slow but I'll see if I can find any inspiration for the items you suggested

Thank you your a star. I tend to avoid jumpers and go for thin layers instead. I can be inside, outside, warm snuggle area, cold draughty area etc throughout the day so layers are more flexible to add or take off as I need to.

No to skater if you're over 30 and or over size 14

bibbetybobbityboo · 15/08/2014 15:29

Oh no really, I'm 31. Agh I am useless at this. I just want to look reasonable, be comfortable and not have to think about it too much in a morning.

if you are near a John Lewis, then book a free stylist apt and see what they suggest. You can then use their ideas as a template for when you go shopping.

No skater dresses over 30?! Don't be ridiculous!
