How can a woman in her 30s wear a crop top?

Don't say "don't wear it!" because I'm going to ignore you :)

I know crop tops are of questionable taste, specially if you're not 16 years old. But the possibility of wearing a crop top in this weird 90s revival may be the encouragement I need to work on my tummy (that used to be amazing and now, 2 children later, not that much).

So, I promised myself a crop top so I can show off nice abs (if they ever get nice again). Where can I buy a decent one? What is the less ridiculous way to wear them?

Thanks!

I salute anybody that can contemplate wearing a crop top after 2 kids! I am assuming, no stretch marks, tummy all toned Envy, some people have all the luck.

It's not like I'm anywhere near Miranda Kerr's standards. I'm just living under the illusion that a couple of weeks of working out would get me in an acceptable shape ;)

I don't mind saggy boobs, thin blue veins in my legs, or wrinkles. But I've not gotten over the fact that my nice tummy is not, well, so nice anymore.

BTW tethersend I think that was a most useful piece of advice. I may just follow your advice.

I was just about to go the shop for a fresh chocolate muffin.

That Miranda Kerr picture has ruined everything.

Thanks a fecking lot!

The OP asked for inspiration on how mums in her 30s can wear crop tops successfully Grin

I would eat the chocolate muffin.

I'm in my 50s and I've got one Grin
Calm down people, I wear it with a very high waisted pencil skirt and (so I can bend over and stretch) a vest top underneath. It's a boxy shape and even has sleeves. There is absolutely no flesh on show - I just like the silhouette (and chocolate muffins).

I am 29 and 8 months, so light years away from my 30s, BUT I wear mine with high waisted jeans or a high waisted pencil skirt.

Unless you have a toned stomach id say no.

I wear boxy loose crop tops with mid rise skinny jeans. You sort of get a flash of (hopefully flat) tummy every now and then, and it makes my waist look smaller than it is because it just skims nicely.
I think the very high cropped tops are a bit too 90s!

On the plus side if you are short like me, cropped tops are great because they create the illusion of longer legs... sortof. It's almost like the tops are now the correct proportion for me (but then I have no torso, I'm all boob and then legs!).

bluesbaby · 14/08/2014 12:31

Ah - yes - like the Miranda Kerr links :)

PicnicGatecrasher · 14/08/2014 14:51

Depends on what crop top you are talking about.

A tight body hugging one needs a high waist skirt/trousers.

The looser crop top with sleeves would be great with the newer style '50s jeans.

A tight crop top with loose low slung jeans would look like your straight out of an All Saints video. And I mean the band and not the retailer!
