Nasolabials: best treatment?

I have quite pronounced nasolabials and I am wondering what the best treatment is? I'm a bit of an old gimmer so perhaps surgery is the best option but are there any other treatments that are effective?

I suppose it's hard to say without seeing you, but fillers are a reasonable first option. But make sure you go to a practitioner with a subtle hand. It can be hard to get fillers right and they're easy to overdo. Having said that, if it's wrong or you don't like the result, fillers can be dissolved quite easily. It's a personal opinion, but I think surgery is very drastic.

Thanks Lurking. I'm trying to avoid the stuffed pillow effect I see sometimes on slebs and the like.

Otherwise I look quite youthful for my age. My skin is ok and I look after myself. I've got thr
e beginnings of marionettes as well. A family trait, unfortunately.

I'll have a go at fillers first.

The easiest/simplest of fillers to have done is probably the marionette lines. Especially if you look sort of sad with them. They give quite an instant 'lift' to your face and expression. You won't get a pillow face. If you look at TV, most actors/presenters etc over a certain age should have marionette lines but they don't. Fillers. And have you ever noticed it done badly? Hardly ever.

Oooh..thanks for the tip on marionettes. Not thought of it like that.

What are marionette lines?

lurkingaround · 12/08/2014 18:57

Marionette line are those lines from each corner of your mouth straight down your chin. They make you look sad and unhappy. They happen as we age due to loss of fat/volume from the face.

Stylised picture of marionette lines

This is a good picture where the lines aren't too bad.

And this is a good picture of the 'sad' look marionette lines produce.

Nasio labial - fillers.

You don't have to look pillow faced or stuffed.

Embrace em or fill em. I don't know of a "treatment" other than fillers - even a facelift works better with fillers as an after treatment. Give them a go, if you don't object in principle and can afford - they do wear off, so if they are not for you, so be it.
