rehab for fried hair?

my hair is awful at the moment. I think it's heat damage from too mcuh blowdrying and straightening. I used to be able to get away with daily blowdrys and still have nice glossy hair, but those days are gone.

i know that the only real answer is to cut it, and I have an appointment booked to chop off as much as I can bear, but are there any products I can use on what's left to a) - help style it without heat, and b) smooth it down a bit?

Have a try of the joico k-pak reconstructor, it's packed full of protein which treats hair deep down. Not just masking over the top.

Here's a link

There's also the hydrator

These work so well together, if I remember correctly you still need to use a conditioner after these two.

My hair was frazzled after bleaching it white to get it lilac and after using these my hair felt like....well hair again for the first time in ages.

thanks, will check out the links

My hair seems to be in much better condition (and thicker as I have fine hair) since taking cod liver oil capsules and also using Argan oil some nights when I am washing it the next day. Mind you, you need to take the cod liver oil for about 8 weeks before you notice any difference.Wink

I did the same as fcukfifa- in fact I thought I had already posted. I fried my hair to dye it lilac too(!)

I used redken extreme, and they also do a reconstructing spray. I alternated with moisturising hair masks aswell.

The best thing was putting a semi permanent over it as close to my natural colour as possible to stop it being quite so porous, then leaving it to grow out.

I lighten my hair an extreme number of shades so although I don't straighten it or use a hairdryer too much as it's dead straight it does get pretty frazzled. I use an intensive conditioner on a weekend day afternoon and wash, towel dry and apply tip to roots quite a bit. Then in summer I sit outside for a while in the heat or in winter put a plastic bag on my head and blast for a few seconds with a warm hairdryer. Leave for an hour or two and rinse out then allow to dry naturally as much as possible. It gets greasy quickly next time but I find it silkier and much more manageable!

Swap between protein and moisture, as hair needs both and too much moisture makes hair stretchy, but not strong and too much protein makes hair hard and snap. So use one "reconstructive or protein" mask over night once a week and another massively moisturing conditioner mask one once a week. I also like to cover my hair in coconut oil once a fortnight before bed and rinse off next morning. This has made a massive difference to my hair and now I realise why iv spent 10 years with crappy hair b/c just adding moisture dosnt work.

Go to poundland
Buy the argan oil shampoo, conditioner and the leave in heat spray. It's brown and green

Go to wilkinsons buy almond oil £1 put loads on the night before.

these tips are all great
I am very tempted to try the poundland options before the more spendy ones.

Catswiththumbs, I also put a semi brown on all over and have left it to grow and fade, I've no got about 6-8 inches of natural hair that goes into nice ombré blonde, haven't coloured it since last nov!

Nancy totally agree with the protein and the moisture. The joico kpak is and av protein product, I used it once a week. I also second using coconut oil overnight every so often, hair feels lovely afterwards, but have to give it a thorough rinse.
