Thoughts on facials please- I've been having Clarins ones but might change

Apart from asking around, how can you find a good place to have a facial? Is there anything to look out for? I find that some of the Clarins therapists are ok but not great, and they all seem to have sales targets for products, and I'm not overly keen on Clarins products. It's very difficult to try to stick to the same therapist due to the way their appointment book and shifts work, so I might have a facial with someone and enjoy it, then next time get someone else and it's not as good. Is this usual for department store places?

I'm in the middle of a course of treatments and won't be buying another. The previous (independent) place I went to closed down. Maybe I have rose-tinted memory glasses about that place.

I go an independent salon..have owner every time. Gone to her for 17 years.
Is there another salon near you? I have dermalogica facials and also Caci

mipmop · 09/08/2014 20:10

Thanks- I've just realised the old place did Caci. Totally forgot about that. Maybe looking for an independent salon that offers those sort of treatments is the way to go.

Do you have Caci treatments yourself?

Yes. The one with the wrinkle comb.
Anything that hurts like that must be doing my skin good!
Have caci every 6 weeks and facial every 4-5

OsloGin · 09/08/2014 20:55

I had a caci for the first time last month. Was really good.

mipmop · 09/08/2014 21:21

Thanks again.

Do facials actually make any difference if you have them regularly?

What about the Caci? Do you not have to have it v frequently to make a noticeable difference?

MrsDavidBowie · 09/08/2014 21:37

I am 54 and have excellent skin. Everyone comments on it.
Very glowing..
I love having them....I buy in blocks of 5 and get one free, and book next appointment when I have one.
So always in the diary.

summerberries · 09/08/2014 21:49

Thanks a lot.
I'm sure you have lovely skin but I can't help wonder how much of that is genetic/ lifestyle and what you do every day rather than facials. I have had a facials in the past and find them v relaxing and pleasant but not sure they had any lasting effect.

I'm interested in the Caci facials. Does it seem to make a noticeable difference?

MrsDavidBowie · 09/08/2014 21:53

I do look after my skin on a daily basis and avoid the sun. Never smoked either.

I think caci does make a difference.

summerberries · 09/08/2014 22:10

Many thanks MrsDB!

mipmop · 09/08/2014 22:25

I've looked into Caci- MrsDB (who has excellent taste, he's my ideal dinner companion) could you give any thoughts on the various Caci options (standard, hydratone, super, ultimate)?

Thank you.

I have never had very good skin but I have had a few facials over the past few months, nothing special, just deep cleaning types mainly and I think they have made a big difference. If I could afford it I would love to have one every month (£25).

MrsDavidBowie · 09/08/2014 23:06

I have Caci ultra with hydrotone. Costs about £620 for 10.
