I want to look like an architect

Met up with some of my old school friends last week. A couple of them are architects and looked great: edgy, quirky yet classy in a simple kind of way. Neither of them has a lot of money so I doubt they spend much on their clothes but they looked much better than some of the other people there who clearly had (spent a lot).

I desperately want the same look, where do I start? Which shops or labels do I look up?

What SantaMariaNovella and Marsha have said. Margaret Howell is also beloved by a few interior designers/architects I know.

Kablooger · 20/08/2014 11:22

not architecty but i like the COS slim pink trousers.
I am a 12 but a slim one in trews - any ideas for my euro size

Kablooger · 20/08/2014 13:01

Right ordered a pink knitted skirt, pink trews and the black top linked below.
I am not an architect and never will be

4boysxhappy · 20/08/2014 13:05

When in the job. Hubby used to always wear Doc Martins. Great for going around building sites. If you really want the real look.

He has them in all different colours :o)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 20/08/2014 14:13

Good for you, Kablooger, I like it that you try different things. Esp when it involves you finally embracing Cos Grin.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2014 14:16

I like the pink trousers. I have a pair of Cos slim trousers and bloomin' love them. Get asked if I've lost weight every time I wear them.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 20/08/2014 14:26

The pink trousers do look great. And if they have that optical slimming illusion, I can't tell you how fast I will be buying them.

Kablooger · 20/08/2014 14:27

LOL

you Minx belinda.
the return delivery for that JCrew jumper was bloody 15 quid. So i kept. BTW gap have nice pale blue merino in

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2014 14:43

Belinda - you are v v v slim anyway - you don't need magical trousers!

Kablooger · 20/08/2014 14:48

yeah

piss orf

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 20/08/2014 14:51

[gasp] at £15 - are you sure?? I think they send you a funny calculation, but it doesn't mean that's what it will cost you? Oh God, I hope you like it. Am cringing Karblooger at £15 to return anything, especially think I was all for the Tippi in the first place.

I need to get to Gap pronto, but the Uniqlo merino does also look good. Will try both on (the Uniqlo for the 2nd time), and this time not over 2 layers.

oh, Remus, that's kind, but I've put on a bit and not enjoying it. I know its not exactly in problem territory, though. And that the solution lies in less dessert and more walking. Anyway, lets not open this Pandora's box anymore!

lurkingaround · 20/08/2014 14:52

Off thread point but 15 to return a jumper??!!

And, awww! Kablooger! You've entered Cos territory! Congratulations!
And agree with Remus; Belinda, no need for magic trews!

As you were, everybody, ignore my intrusion.

lurkingaround · 20/08/2014 14:56

X-post Belinda. I know how you feel though, re the extra weight, I've done the same - put on a bit - and I hate it. Loathe it. As you say the answer is simple enough, less of the rubbish after I finish the brownies Blush

museumum · 20/08/2014 14:59

How much do I love this thread?? Grin

Professional looking women with comfy shoes, minimal makeup and no fancy schmancy gel manicures....

When I first read it, I was inspired to get my shoulder length hair cut to a short bob.... I am now planning a full wardrobe overhaul. I already wear slimfit chinos for work so am part way there :)

noddyholder · 20/08/2014 15:00

I love Cos is very easy to wear. All the things I have bought have lasted really well and don't really date

KristinaM · 20/08/2014 15:01

< welcomes museum mum into the fold>

museumum · 20/08/2014 15:03

:)

I am not an architect, but I work with designers a lot in a creative profession and need a work look that isn't 'corporate'.

noddyholder · 20/08/2014 15:03

www.cosstores.com/dk/Shop/Women/Tops/Knot_detail_top/46885-10841904.1#c-85342 I have several things along this line and they are the first things I go to when I think I have nothing to wear.

HellonHeels · 20/08/2014 15:08

I love archi-style. Not sure I can do it with my fat arse and big tits though.

What does the MN architect massive say - yes or no?

noddyholder · 20/08/2014 15:09

It is also museum curator style and I know a couple with big bums so you will be fine. I am busty and love the way cos tops just kind of minimise that you can't really tell

OneSkinnyChip · 20/08/2014 15:14

Can I ask: are Cos really aimed at slim people? I am on the chubby side (size 16) and very pear shaped (although I have big boobs but small shoulders). I saw a nice dress on there but thought it might be more for the small of nork and hip.

Kablooger · 20/08/2014 15:14

sept 1
lets recommence the thread

Kablooger · 20/08/2014 15:15

i like the way my nom de plume is UTTERLY transparent to all Angry Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2014 15:17

Why, who are you? Grin
