A whole new (capsule) wardrobe.

So I have lost a stack of weight, the end is in sight and to help move the last half stone I am planning my new wardrobe.

Trouble is I am utterly clueless.

What are the essential basics?

OP posts:
peasandlove · 09/08/2014 11:12

what type of clothes do you wear to work? smart or casual?

peasandlove · 09/08/2014 11:12

if you work that is, sorry. More info required.

HappyGirlNow · 09/08/2014 12:06

It does depend if you need work clothes, how you spend your time, if you go out a lot and what styles you like...

At a minimum I'd say:

For casual:
A couple of pairs of good jeans or casual trousers - whatever style suits you
Casual tops - thin cotton plus sweaters
Casual jacket
Casual winter coat
Boots
Casual shoes like pumps

Work:
Depends what you do? But separates that all go together colour wise and easy or no iron!

Going out:
Dressy blazer/jacket
Dark skinny jeans
Couple of dressy tops
Pencil skirt
Pair of heels
Pair of dressy boots
Dress coat

HappyGirlNow · 09/08/2014 13:04

Depends on your age, shape, colouring and preferences what styles of these...

Layter · 09/08/2014 18:10

Right ho, am back. Thank you for your replies.

Further information. - for work I am essentially manual labour. Think your skanky council workman type out in all sorts of weather but smelly to boot. So really there's no crossover between working clothes and non- working clothes.

I don't really feel that I have a style. I have been wearing anything that fits and covers up the acreage. I would like to have clothes that don't require much in the way of an iron but are smartish. Not necessarily fashionable but stylish iykwim. Also I am breastfeeding so the ability to whip up and wear a vest underneath is helpful.

Happygirl - what about a dress and skirt in each of your categories?

I do not go out much. Currently in my spare frivolous time I toddle off for a walk and things like that, nothing requiring nice clothes.

Your list happy girl gives me a really good start - thank you!

I would also go with a pair of dark denim jeans in what style suits your body shape ( would prefer skinny/straight though) , a black blazer that you can wear with them if you want to really smarten it up, or with tshirts underneath etc.
a pair of casual shoes for walking, a pair of more dressy boots like shoe boot style

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2014 15:06

Just some ideas.. Sorry all from same site just happened to be on it but they're all quite classic styles, nothing radical..

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2014 15:07

Jeans

TomatoSorbetWoman · 10/08/2014 15:09

shes breastfeeding and is a manual labourer... Hmm

dont think most of those links are useful!

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2014 15:15

Excuse me tomato? I wasn't posting work clothes as presumably she doesn't need help with that..

So because she's breast feeding the OP can't wear jeans, a blazer, a coat, shoes....?

Hmm back at you... What are you adding to this discussion? The OP has asked for a bit of help..

pinkflaming0 · 10/08/2014 17:57

I don't know about the OP but I'm loving some of your links Happy especially the jumper (I have trouble getting sleeves long enough - looks like those would be more than OK!) and shoes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2014 18:08

I think most of the links posted so far are probably too dressy for what the OP is currently after, especially the shoes and the draped top.

How about:

Jeans

Boots

Nice basic jumper

Top

Pretty but basic t-shirt

mumofoliver · 10/08/2014 21:00

I have the jack wills top that Remus linked above and love it. Good quality, classic and good price Smile

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2014 23:15

Agree the OP says she doesn't go out much Remus but we all go out sometimes and good to have something there to throw on... Grin

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2014 23:16

Really like the Topshop top btw Remus

HappyGirlNow · 10/08/2014 23:18

Thanks Pink Grin I've ordered the Zara jumper, pick up tomorrow, hopefully as nice as it looks..
