So since having DD2 my hair is dry, straw like, find and thin. I have it shoulder length and it's straight (slight wave if damp). I used to use herbal essences pink flowery one, until they changed the brand, and now none of the products seem to suit me. I use loads of conditioner, but it seems to make no difference.

What do you use to make you hair soft, shiny, full bodied (is that even possible with thin, fine hair!?) and generally not looking like you were recently electrocuted or dragged through a hedge backwards, 10 minutes after you have washed, styled and dried it?

are you using a decent conditioner? sounds like your shampoo is stripping your hair. I have highlighted blonde hair and I really love Kiehls products. I use one of their conditioners, usually argan or olive fruit oils, and I really rate their Heat protective straightening cream. Both are well worth it if your budget will stretch to it. I use just a supermarket shampoo though, usually loreal elvive.

The new Garnier Ultimate Blends ones are good, I have fine hair and the red one for coloured hair made it really soft. I find Herbal essences ones dry my hair out after a while.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 09/08/2014 15:36

I got 'grow gorgeous' from boots. It's shampoo and conditioner and doesn't did up at all but best thing my hair has ever known. But it's £20!

missmartha · 09/08/2014 15:56

I use the Tony&Guy for fine hair shampoo and conditioner. They're both light and don't weigh my hair down.

I also use Plumping mousse from the same range, just a little on and around the crown of my head and waggle my fingers through it while I dry it.

I get a good cut and my stylist cuts keeping my thin hair in mind iyswim.

That helps keep my hair looking, hmmm, not too bad, cos otherwise I'd have crap hair.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 09/08/2014 15:58

Sorry, doesn't sud up. Not doesn't did up.

Madaboutthrows · 09/08/2014 17:08

Aveda dry remedy range. Talk to an s a and ask for samples

Madaboutthrows · 09/08/2014 17:08

Damage remedy I meant. Oops

fluffydressinggown · 09/08/2014 17:17

I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny shampoo and it leaves my hair really nice and soft and shiny.

Coumarin · 09/08/2014 22:16

I love Philip Kingsley but especially the Elasticizer stuff. Would not be without it. I know it gets mixed reviews in here but it transforms my hair into silky softness.

The Garnier Ultimate Blends shampoos and conditioners are really good. I was surprised at how good actually. They give the £££ ones a run for their money. The argan oil one (orange bottles) is especially good for damaged hair and leaves it smelling gorgeous. Boots had the huge bottles for half price last week so a couple of pounds each.

Coumarin · 09/08/2014 22:18

Sorry, I missed the fine hair part. Avoid the elastizer then but the ultimate blends ones will still have one that'll suit.

YouAreMyRain · 09/08/2014 23:46

I have just switched from Herbal Essences, after 10+ years of loyalty, to Garnier Ultimate blends. As PPs have said, I am really pleased with them.

I read the thread title and wanted to add my experience and was pleased to be in good company.

frizz ease

strawberryshoes · 10/08/2014 10:50

thank you all, I might see if I can get some samples, or some travel size bottles to see which one suits me. Will be going shopping this afternoon!

Aveda would be brilliant, if you can afford it. Try to have a chat with a hairdresser. It's not just about the product - the way you wash and comb it will make a difference, and your hairbrush might be doing some damage.

Also: how often do you heat style? can you stop, or cut back? How often do you wash? can you give it a break for a bit?

Lastly, how's your diet?

Philoslothy · 10/08/2014 10:57

Aveda shampoos have transformed my hair, if I use anything else I notice straight as way.

Redken are also good.

carrielou2007 · 10/08/2014 12:49

Ooh can I just ask re- Garnier ones s this one I 'vested advertised to help with humidity !!

JadeJ123 · 10/08/2014 13:00

Argan oil or Aussie did wonders for my hair after ruining it by bleaching it too much Blush

strawberryshoes · 10/08/2014 16:59

I don't heat style at all, and wash either every other, or every day (fringe and top of head gets greasy). Diet is... not baaad. A little too much refined sugar at the moment (am breastfeeding and just crave sugar ALL THE TIME but don't put on any weight from the naughty snacking, because of the feeding).

Ended up only going to Waitrose who don't have a wide range brought some random Korres product as it was on offer. Will chat to my hairdresser and get some more samples when in town - note to self, aveda and ultimate blends sound promising. Thank you again!

I bought the Garnier ones recommended up thread, I'm very sleek and swishy today! Have been using salt free for last year as use the amazing home Brazilian keratin kit. Need to redo it the difference making me rethink!! Very impressed Grin

micah · 12/08/2014 11:25

I have just discovered the naked range, probably the best I've come across so far for fine, limp and/or damaged hair. Free of all the paraben stuff too.

Dc swim a lot so hair is wrecked, the intensive shampoo& conditioner actually make a visible difference.

However- in my years living in various places I have a theory that the success of any product will often depend on your water, whether it is hard/soft. Shampoo I love at my mums is crap at home, and vice versa...

Carpaccio · 12/08/2014 14:31

Redken All Soft is amazing. But it is expensive.

I've found that this range: www.superdrug.com/Hair/Shampoos/Everyday-Shampoo/Essence-ULT%C3%8EME-Omega-Repair-Shampoo-250ml/p/886967#.U-oUi2Py_Sg is pretty close to the All Soft products.

I've used the hair mask (I use it all over the hair - it doesn't make it greasy even if used in the scalp/roots), shampoo and conditioner (only using this in the lengths of the hair) and they are all great. There's a BB cream for the hair which is just a leave-in treatment thingy which I don't think is as good as the other products.

There is a volume range but I haven't tried it - but it might work for you.

As a leave-in treatment after washing, I use the Dove dry oil for hair: www.superdrug.com/Hair/Haircare-Oils/Haircare-Oils/Dove-Dry-Oil-Nourishing-100ml/p/737463#.U-oVo2Py_Sg
Mine is the one with Anatolian pomegranate seed oil for mature hair (I don't have mature hair, but I don't care and it was all Boots had when I bought it) - it's very nice. It can be used before washing the hair as a pre-wash treatment and can be used after to give shine. I only use it in the lengths of the hair and only in fairly limited amounts to avoid getting the hair to look greasy.

Longtime · 13/08/2014 16:46

Garnier is part of L'Oréal which is 30% owned by Nestlé for anyone boycotting Nestlé products.

rootypig · 13/08/2014 19:21

I didn't know that Longtime, thanks
