I have recently been sorted as 30f ish, give or take, after wearing a 34c for ever. I got carried away in the bra shop afterwards and bought 4 new ones, luckily in the sale. Some of the sizes are different but 3 out of 4 of them seem to dig in under my arm pits where the wire ends. The bras aren't riding up at the back, and I bought balcony style as my boobs aren't very full on top, but I'm wondering what I've done wrong with the style or fit. Can anyone advise please? Tia

It's just a bit soul destroying, as bras fit in the shop perfectly, then aren't comfy afterwards, but you can't return them after wearing them for a day. I don't know how to overcome this.

Which bras did you buy? Is the actual wire digging in, or is it just that the fabric comes up higher than you are used to and is rubbing?

MissRee · 08/08/2014 15:10

I have terrible trouble with the wires digging in/rubbing under my arms - it's gets very sore!

I did find a bra in Debenhams that had a bit of extra material at the top after the wire finished which didn't run but it was the only style in my size that had this (36G) and I haven't found another since Hmm

I have this problem and the only bras I've found that don't rub me are Bravissimo's own brand (apart from the Alana which is evil).

I have this problem too and it sets off my psoriasis under my arms, making it really sore. I wish my boobs were small enough to wear a crop top thing.

They are john Lewis ones, Louisa, Nicole and another which I've lost the tag for so I don't know what it's called. I bought a Freya one at the same time and it's fine.

I've never tried bravissio o, as i thought they were just for large boobs which mine aren't. But maybe I'll have a look. Thanks

Bravissimo are for D+ - which isn't really big at all.

I'm not familiar with the JL own brand bras. However, if the freya is ok I am inclined to think it's a style issue and the JL aren't the right cut for you. There is also an element of breaking in with new bras. This is especially noticeable if you have changed size considerably as the new bras will have very different pressure points. Bit like when you first put on flip flops after winter...sore bits!

I'm now wearing one of my old 34c bras, which is comfy (Although It rides up my back and is def the wrong size) the wire under my arms, is further forward round the side of my boobs, rather than further to the side under my armpit. I'm not sure whether this is right or wrong. Whereabouts should the top of the wire sit, More forward or more under the armpit?

That depends on the cut of the bra and on your breast shape. The wire should be just outside the edge of your breast tissue - so it should be sitting on non-boob, but there shouldn't be a big gap between the wire and your breast if that makes sense

Some people have boob under their armpits, others are much more upfront

Pinkfrocks · 08/08/2014 16:44

You need to work out if the wires are digging into boob tissue or back fat.
If it's boob tissue then the cup is too small. I wear underwired all the time and the wires at the sides are are about half way between the front and back of my armpit- roughly where the seam in a T shirt would be. If the wire was further towards my boob the cup would be too small.

I see. Thanks for your help. Maybe these bras are cut too far round, I'll have a look.
