Is Black and White okay for a wedding guest?

I know some say you shouldn't wear black or white as a wedding guest - but are both together considered okay?

I'm really struggling to find an outfit for a wedding I'm going to in October. I also need whatever I choose to double up for a corporate race-day event in September.

Shop assistant suggested this: www.phase-eight.co.uk/pws/ProductDetails.ice?ProductID=202474867&redirect=true

It's about double what I was hoping to pay but I've been in so many shops and am beginning to lose hope.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful. I'm mid-30s, 5'4, size 10-12 but top-heavy so high necks are out as they make me look too matronly. I like v-necks but not plunging necklines. Length-wise, I prefer just above the knee.

Thank you!

It's beautiful. One of my friends wore it for her daughters wedding and looked stunning, it is really nice on.

It's lovely. Go for it.

It's a very nice dress but surely the high neckline and particularly the specific pattern on the bust over emphasize your top heaviness? Sometimes strange things do happen in the frontage department though, I've had double breasted stuff work on occasion against all logic and received wisdom, so if it works just go for it. It really is pretty.

this is kind of similar but deep navy and cream

Thanks all for the reassurance.

The Hobbs dress is lovely MrsLettuce - I may have to pop in and try it on!

Both are beautiful dresses, but I think the one mrslettuce linked will be more versatile and likely to be worn for more different situations and functions. The navy and cream one seems softer and lends itself to more variety in the accessory department.

What shoes and accessories are you thinking about?

I'm unsure about b&w unless on cdeVil
The navy is better

Phase Eight one is beautiful and elegant.

You are only in your 30s. I think the phase 8 dress will make you look older. I prefer the Hobbs one too.
