Well with a stash of scarves and an enormous amount of gumption I have whacked all the dye off. In about three months I will be back to my normal pixie style but without the burden of touching up roots every week.

I could do with a bit of of the moral right now. Am very pleased with my decision but not so pleased to be sporting a Sinead. Still the puff ball is the next stage and then it will be straight forward there after.

Need some silver inspiration x

Looks amazing!

I did the same back in January and now I can just about get my hair into the shortest pigtails ever Grin

I'm loving the grey and the freedom from dyeing it. Best thing I've done in ages!

Milmingebag · 03/08/2014 16:29

Thanks Bunny did he colour seem to change as it grew? Bet yours looks amazing. I just want to fast forward three months now!!! Grin

Yep it looked patchy when it started growing out. There was still some brown on the ends from my last dye job. I had it trimmed which got rid of those bits.

I also found that changing my parting from one side to the other really showed off the bright white that is coming through.

Will see if I can find a photo.

JRsandCoffee · 03/08/2014 21:46

Mine is long and very grey/ white, I only ever get told how lovely it looks, folk are tactful Wink I also changed parting to show the silver bit and also to give it more lift. I love the freedom from dye as well, enjoy!

TheFarSide · 03/08/2014 21:50

If you suit a pixie you'll be fine with a buzz cut, and there is nothing like the joy of never having to dye your hair again.

I did it the hard way - grew mine out while maintaining the length (to my shoulders). It took a year!

No regrets. The colour really suits me and I think it makes me look younger.

MissSusanStoHelit · 03/08/2014 21:54

I am 35 in Sept and have decided to embrace the grey too! I've been growing it out since Feb, last week I chopped my bra-strap-length locks into a pixie, which still has a few straggly blonde bits but I LOVE it! Can't post a pic as I'm on my phone, but I'm on my way to being a silver sister... Grin
Some days I hate it, most days I love it, can't wait till all the dyes out and I can have a proper salt and pepper do.
Good luck!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2014 21:55

It really suits you - and your eyes look wonderfully bright in relation to the grey.

anotherdayanothersquabble · 03/08/2014 21:56

I stopped dyeing mine, had to wait while it grew out and then had some silver highlights it in to blend in the colour growing out! Not a great day for me but it did look good. Now I am silver grey all over, slightly darker at the back and no one, NO ONE, ever mentions my hair. Not entire true as a few people do and tell me it looks better but it's funny how people avoid saying OMG you have gone completely grey!! I live abroad and no one I have seen in the last year from 'home' has mentioned my hair. Also funny how people say, that colour of top / piece of jewellery picks out your eyes, when the really mean that it goes well with my hair! Different colours suit me now I am no longer a red head / blond / chestnut brunette!!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 03/08/2014 21:57

Go you! I have embraced the grey too-love not having to faff about dyeing it and I think that actually your natural hair colour is what suits your skin tone. It looks great.

GetOnYourDancingShoes · 03/08/2014 21:57

I'm growing mine out...it is costing too much to keep covering the roots.
I was thinking of having it cut into a short bob for a while and then a pixie cut (have had both styles in the past) once the roots have grown out a bit more.

Then again, I may just have it buzzed if I can get up enough 'bottle'. Grin

Shosha1 · 03/08/2014 22:04

I did the same last week. Wasn't suppose to be quite as short but DH got the grade wrong :)

OneLittleLady · 03/08/2014 22:15

ah both you ladies in the pictures look great! I haven't got a single grey yet (not boasting, i promise) but i hope i'll go grey gracefully myself when my time comes!

Greengardenpixie · 03/08/2014 22:31

Wow..well done!! I have to say you are brave cutting it all off. I am jealous of the freedom. My dh would cry if i cut my hair but that badgers stripe of hair coming through is awful...so well done both of you!! You have real guts!!! It will be totally worth it.

Milmingebag · 03/08/2014 23:58

Thank-you all so much for the encouragement!

Shosha1 you can totally pull that off. Your patterning looks very similar to mine. What grade did you end up getting?

I'm excited now to see how my silver will evolve- how about you?

Shall we post fuzz updates? Grin

It's a 6 Mil :) and yes definitely :)

monsterowl · 04/08/2014 17:35

milmingebag and shosha1, you both look great (even though MMB is hiding)!

MsRinky · 04/08/2014 17:48

You both look awesome.

I'm just starting to get a few greys now, but am resolved not to go down the dye route.

helzapoppin2 · 04/08/2014 18:58

Looks good!

helzapoppin2 · 04/08/2014 18:59

Both of you!

SuperWifeANDMum · 04/08/2014 19:05

WOW you both look incredible.

WitchWay · 04/08/2014 19:15

I haven't had mine dyed since the middle of April & am booked for a trim later this week. The greying roots are pretty impressive now. Can't decide whether to stick with the shoulder-length I like or have all the nasty fading gingery dye chopped out. Decisions, decisions!

FairyBiker · 04/08/2014 20:45

I did mine a year ago, I love it

Then didn't get it cut for 6 months so it really grew out. It's in a bob now. It's liberating not being driven buy roots every few weeks.

you won't regret it!

KillmeNow · 04/08/2014 20:55

I really wish I had left my newly grown post chemo hair to itself .It was very similar to Shosha in style and colour and everyone said how nice it looked. But no .I had to go and put a dye through it just to see what it took like.

And then began the cycle of dyeing and root covering.I hate it and would love to be brave enough to just cut it all off and start again.

I would keep the pixie cut though.

Shonajay · 04/08/2014 23:44

I did mine too! Loving it.
