When do I get my Brazilian?

Getting married soon. How many days before the wedding should I have myself defused? I'm not a regular waxer so need to allow both physical and psychological recovery time! Legs and facial hair too.

I went for a Brazilian 2 days before my wedding but asked the beautician to stop halfway through!! Too damn sore

Only1scoop · 03/08/2014 08:58

I'd start waxing straight away if you are going for quite a high bikini....I have waxed for years but still have to psych myself up for full montyBlush

Get some after wax in also

Only1scoop · 03/08/2014 08:59

If you have never had facial lip wax etc don't do this as a one off as you can react the first few times....dotty rashes etc....

chocoshopoholic · 03/08/2014 09:00

I'm a regular waxer. Would recommend that you try and schedule 1 4ish weeks prior (check for a reaction to products ) and then another 2 days prior (no sex/sun for 48 hours)

KristinaM · 03/08/2014 09:31

I'm wondering what style of wedding dress you are wearing that could possibly require waxing . Could you post a photo -I'm intrigued ?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/08/2014 10:29

Tbh as you're bit a regular waxer I wouldn't have it done at all anywhere near your wedding in case you have a reaction.

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 03/08/2014 10:32

Exactly what choco said. 4-6 weeks before, to make sure you don't have an adverse reaction, then 2 days before the wedding.

Walnut8 · 03/08/2014 11:18

2 days?! I am spotty for at least 4-5 days afterwards. I would do it a week before to be on the safe side. If you can only handle the one time, then just do it a week before. Will still be smooth for honeymoon period afterwards. And def get some after-wax potion like Bump Eraiser.

And I don't think it's the dress she's worried about waxing for ...Confused

PurpleWithRed · 03/08/2014 11:28

I was actually planning to take the dress off to fulfil my marital duties, but of course as an innocent and ignorant virgin maybe I've got it all wrong? Confused

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 03/08/2014 11:51

Walnut - that's exactly why she needs a 'test' wax 4-6 weeks before. Some people are spotty for up to a week afterwards, some get no reaction at all.

Grin @ Purple.

Kris Grin

KristinaM · 03/08/2014 12:44

If you are an innocent and ignorant virgin, then you have more important things to be asking mumsnet about than waxing Wink

And if your fiance is in the same situation, he will be so pleased to see some action, he won't be complaining about any wispy bits

KristinaM · 03/08/2014 12:46

< snort > at marital duties

Round here that what we call emptying the bin

Walnut8 · 03/08/2014 12:47

Clean - if she doesn't want to or it's too late to organise (less than 6 weeks before) then I would suggest leaving a week pre wedding...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/08/2014 13:03

If you ate spotty for best part of a week after having it done, don't you stubble soon after?

thank God Dh likes the 70's look

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/08/2014 13:04

Excuse all the typos!

If you ARE

Don't you GET stubble

roughtyping · 03/08/2014 13:07

I got my legs waxed around 3 weeks before my wedding. Had a massively bad reaction, ended up on steroids with swollen purple legs. Massive panic as I was wearing a tea length dress! Doctor sorted me out. Never again. I still get itchy legs now and I'm sure it's because of it.

KristinaM · 03/08/2014 16:47

I will give you the same advice you get before you do your first marathon - don't do anything on the big day that you haven't tried out in training.

Don't wear brand new shoes or underwear , don't eat food that you are not familiar with , don't drink too much, do eat little and often, stay well hydrated, don't use unfamiliar products, take it easy for a few days before and after, set a reasonable pace that you can keep up all day, have fun

Only1scoop · 03/08/2014 17:00

Second that....I've been having the garden waxed for more years than I care to remember....every 6 weeks. As I said before....you need to build up gradually really so I'd make a start....

Good luck
