I started a thread earlier in the week but no one responded (sob!) so I was wondering if you could answer these questions for me instead :)

  1. I have a vair serious business meeting thing on weds, what colour nail polish should I go for to convey, serious / groomed / classy etc?

  2. I need a new foundation - my old one was double wear but since they broke it by changing it, I have been floundering. I have tried Colour stay but found it chalky and a bit flat, I tried Dior forever skin but it just didn't have that wow factor I used to get with DW. So. Any suggestions?

  3. What one thing will make a huge difference to how I look? I have had mytash eyebrows threaded, a natural fake tan is booked for monday, and I have a hair appointment booked to take me more blonde and to tidy up my shape. What else can I do?

Thank you all in advance - I am very grateful (but if no one replies to this thread either I may start getting a complex!)

  1. Nude or a dusty pink - or maybe grey if the weather isn't so nice

  2. I like Soap and Glory

  3. I would say blusher, but no good with fake tan

I'm no expert but ... I would go for a natural healthy looking nail colour like bourjois rose lounge.

I am in the same boat with doublewear. I quite like makeup forever hd foundation. On me it gives great coverage and longlasting without being cakey.

Could you have a facial perhaps? Something relaxing maybe so that you go in glowing. I wouldn't have any kind of extraction facial thoufh. Would make me too blotchy.

I had been looking at a sort of grey actually, but wasn't sure if it was too much of a statement and I should just go french manicure - but then someone said they were a bit common now and I got the wibbles about it! (I think I've attached a pic of the grey!)

I haven't heard of the soap and glory foundation, I'll go and have a look tomorrow. Does it last? I think I want a dewy finish so I'm not sure if its a primer / highligter problem I have rather than a foundation thing.

Thank you for your help :)

The grey is nice. I think it would be fine for work.

That grey looks nice. What kind of industry are we talking? Creative/law/finance?

I'd go for clear nailvarnish, personally. But really groomed nails, filed, cuticles pushed back etc. Moisturise hands so they have a healthy glow.
I use a bb cream, it lightens my complexion (as in making it glow a bit), it's an OLay.
Can you have a facial? I swear by Guinot ones.
Posture is important too, straight back at all times.
Iron whatever you are wearing and polish shoes/handbag.
Minimal jewellery.

More important, practice what you're going to say and project self composure and certainty. Know your stuff inside out.
Good luck.

A French or American manicure would be perfect but you'd need to go to a salon unless you have amazing steady hands and have practised.
If you don't have that time a taupe colour looks muted but fashion forward.
I'd recommend Loreal true match foundation if colour stay makes you chalky. The colour range is really good and it lasts.
I think the one thing that makes a big difference is eyebrows. You have had them waxed but what colour are they? Will they suit your new hair colour. If your blonde I'd go for a light brown brown. Brow zings from benefit would be perfect.

(1) Taupe is a lovely nail-colour - OPI do a good one in a creme finish. Don't go too grey (I don't like the shade in the pic). A French manicure is very dated.

(2) Giorgio Armani (lasting or luminous silk) or Lancome teint idole ultra. My fave for everyday is colorstay though. Do you use a good moisturiser under it and stipple? It never looks chalky on me and I have very dry cheeks. In fact the Estee Lauder one and MUFE one do look chalky/cakey/patchy ... The L'oreal stuff doesnt last on me and makes me breakout after a while.

(3) Good hair (you have that covered), natural looking blush and bronzer, well-fitting tailored clothes....but really depends on what your industry/meeting is about?

I think grey is pretty much classic now, not at all edgy, so would be fine, but if you want to be completely safe go for a nude/ very pale pink (eg Essie Mademoiselle, which I have on now).
