Day out in London dress for style or comfort?

Having a day out in London tomorrow, with kids doing museums, sites and possibly a few shops. Would love to go to harrods but isn't there a dress code?

My most comfy shoes are a black pair of Nike trainers with neon pink trim, they are newish not scruffy. I do have converses but not as comfy. Will be walking lots, no pushchair so can't take spare shoes. Would wear with dark skinny jeans, top and cardi. Doesn't sound smart enough for harrods does it?

The pet dept closed at the beginning of the year. It used to be one of my favourite places to go when I was little! Don't worry about dressing up for Harrods - it is mostly full of tourists in jeans and trainers anyway. I love looking at all the incredibly expensive, tasteless furniture there!

Why not style and comfort? Nothing wrong with your outfit BTW (although I personally dislike top plus cardi these days - would prefer one sleeved pretty top like this ) & nothing wrong with trainers with skinnies if stylish.

You should dress for style at all times. Grin

If you can't face heels how about cigarette trousers and loafers paired with a smart blazer?

If you insist upon trainers why not use a large tote so you can carry some smart shoes?

Exactly why would the OP want 'smart shoes' for a day of sightseeing in London? All these things are personal, but trainers seem an ideal choice to me. And she'll probably have enough to carry round without adding extra shoes.

ElizabethArden - ha ha, yes to cheese on toast. It's what I eat if DH is out, so I guess it's my "single" food of choice.

Oh the pet dept closed - shows that I haven't been for a while, then.

Hope OP has had a nice day - magic weather in London today.

We did a sightseeing day today and I went for comfort! Black skinnies, tee sirt , converse, lots of bangles and about three necklaces.

Comfort definitely if you have to choose
