Sweat proof holiday makeup

I'm going on holiday in 2 days and have just had a meltdown whilst looking at what makeup to take on holiday so hoping for some help.

Every year I take far too much, I always wear a full face of make up at night and normally wear some during the day but I struggle to find stuff that doesn't slip off in the heat.

I have really bad skin, spotty, scarring from old spots & full of freckles, I also look extremely washed out and pale without makeup so I heavily rely on it to make me feel better so going completely bare isn't really an option.

Can anyone recommend any of these things that have good staying power and will last the heat

Bb cream or tinted moisturiser
Foundation
Cream blush
Mascara
Concealer

Thank you!

Revlon colour stay foundation

Mac pro wear concealer, hardly use this though add I apply colour stay, let it set then apply more like a concealer , works really well.

It doesn't need powder to set it.

The Essence range in Wilkos is fantastic, don't be put off by how cheap it is, the eyeliner is on a par with Bobbi Brown. The waterproof mascara is incredible too, I'm wearing it constantly atm. I am REALLY fussy so wouldn't recommend it must because it's cheap, if happily pay loads more.

Ultrasun face cream is sun cream but an amazing tinted moisturiser too - plus you only need apply once (unless excessive sweaty!): www.marksandspencer.com/tinted-face-anti-ageing-formula-spf-30-50ml/p/p22332297

Becca Beach Tint for blush. Does not budge. Only comes in a tiny tube but you only need a smidge of it.

Yes, Becca beach tint is great (online from Space NK).

I don't actually wear much makeup on holiday except lip balm but, on a related, if not very stylish, issue, does anyone have any tips to help avoid or lessen the problem of facial sweating in the heat in the first place.

I find sweat trickling down face and soaking fringe isn't a stylish look!

Anti- perspirant perhaps?

Vichy dermablend foundation, concealer and powder. Doesn't budge if you put the powder on properly. Even just the powder would help over any other foundation.

Thanks I will have a look at those, do they sell Vichy dermablend in boots?

Clinique City Block is supposed to help 'wick away perspiration and absorb excess oil so makeup looks fresher, longer'. I've been using the SPF25 one for years in 35-40 degree hot summers and it seems to really help - I generally swear a lot, especially on my forehead looks charming, and I find that the city block really helps make it less obvious and makes the makeup last, despite me wiping my forehead quite a bit.

For foundation/tinted moisturiser/BB cream, I like Estee Lauder DayWear BB cream, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light and Mac Face and Body foundation. They all last really well in the heat. They are all quite sheer - the BB cream being the lightest coverage. The Mac one is buildable, but it can make my T-zone a bit shiny during the day. Double Wear Light is just brilliant.
None of them cover up my freckles, but just make my skin look much better than it actually is.

I'm not a massive fan of cream blushers and prefer the powder ones as I find them easier to apply. I do however have a liquid blush from Daniel Sandler which is absolutely awesome - goes on really well and seems to set so it lasts all day. I only use a tiny drop and apply it with a stippling brush.

For mascara, I'd recommend a tubing mascara. L'oreal makes this one: www.boots.com/en/LOreal-Double-Extension-Beauty-Tubes-Mascara-Black_1001640/ - it's very good, lasts well and comes off with hot water. The white primer part is pointless though.
There are several other brands that do the tubing mascaras - Estee Lauder, Clinique, Blinc and so on. I like the Estee Lauder ones too. The Estee Lauder one feels like normal mascara on the lashes whereas the L'oreal one feels a bit more plastic-y on.

I use a Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer for concealing blemishes and spots. It needs to be set with powder to last. I just use whatever I have - pressed or loose powder.

I get round the mascara thing by having my lashes and brows tinted.

yazzy85 · 29/07/2014 14:10

Origins vitazing tinted moisturiser is really good and boots no7 beautifully matte foundation

Warmandtoasty · 29/07/2014 14:14

Ooh thanks carpaccio, I love the Estée Lauder double wear but it's far too heavy to take away so the light might be perfect, I just want my skin to look slightly better so don't mind freckles showing. I really want to try mac face and body but all their other foundations have made me break out so I try to avoid them which is a shame as they look lovely on.

My lashes and eyebrows are jet black already I just need something to give a subtle curl as they are very straight, I could always try clear mascara. I used max factor waterproof last year and hated it, was so tricky to get off.
