A question about braces

I asked my dentist today about what could be done for my slightly overcrowded bottom teeth - basically four teeth at the front where two are being pushed forward and the others slightly behind - and she said I could get it sorted by wearing a brace for 6 months. Great I thought, until she quoted me £2700 for NHS style metal train tracks, or £3,500 for a ceramic version (so white, rather than metal). She doesn't do Invisalign and suggested that would take more like 18 months with less successful results Hmm.

I just wondered whether anyone else has had similar straightening done and whether the cost was comparable. This sounded pretty pricey to me, but having never needed dental treatment before I'm not at all clued up on how much things typically cost.

Thanks CadiM, I was a bit worried when the chap told me he wasn't an ortho, he wasn't quite as confident as perhaps I was looking for when I went for the appointment. It's interesting to hear from someone who the Inman aligner hasn't worked so well for - sorry though to hear you've been left with other problems.

Just bumping this for more reviews on the Inman Aligner please? I have a consultation on Monday Smile

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have if that helps. I'm very happy with the outcome from the inman aligner

Thank you Neat Freak! how long did yours take and how much was it, if you don't mind me asking? I am having mine as my teeth have drifted after I has braces as a teenager, so hopefully nothing major needed apart from shifted them back slightly then retaining them!

NeatFreak · 02/08/2014 18:14

I got mine in jan/ feb and treatment finished around three weeks ago. My treatment wasn't straightforward as I had to widen the arch as well as move the teeth and I also had a break during it as I lost the aligner (very embarrassing!)

It cost just over £1200 for everything, including all check ups. Only downside is being unable to eat with it in!

Thank you! Excited now Smile

I've been wanting to get the inman aligner for a long time. Would anyone feel comfortable PMing me with a personal recommendation as I haven't found anyone IRL who has had it and I would love to find a good dentist/ortho. I am in the south east but would be willing to travel.
