Complete hair dye disaster

I am furious with myself. After spending the last 18 months at the salon going gradually lighter after years of heavy handed home colouring I decided to cover my grey roots at home last night and now my roots are dark dark brown and the rest of my hair a lovely highlighted mid brown.

I've emailed Colour B4 to see whether their product will work on roots only. I have already washed my hair four times with Head and Shoulders but it hasn't made any difference.

Any suggestions of how I can salvage this much appreciated. I won't have a chance to get to the hairdressers until next week and I have a job interview on Thursday and I would rather they weren't distracted by my alarming hair colour.

Colour b4 IMO

crushed vitamin c tablets mixed with anti dandruff shampoo will lighten your hair up. I looked it up and found this idea on you tube after dying my hair and it being too dark. It really works but you need to leave it on for a good while and plenty conditioner after.

Greengardenpixie · 21/07/2014 07:55

Just use on the roots of course! (should have said)

Fab, I've ordered some Colour B4 to arrive tomorrow (do you think it will be ok on roots only?) and will try the vitamin c trick this afternoon. How long do I need to leave it on for?

It depends....i kept checking really. See if you can find a link on you tube. I think putting it on the roots will be fine. You need to crush vit c tabs to a fine powder. I did it in a bag and using a rolling pin. You can buy powdered vit c but i couldnt find it. Dont buy the efforvescent ones though [not sure how to spell it!]

Not sure which video clip i used.

Brilliant, thank you so much.

Fuck. The vitamin C trick didn't seem to do anything so I tried Colour B4. The top third of my hair is no longer black, it is now orange.

I have a light brown root retouch colour here, it isn't officially a semi permanent but it acts like one and always fades within a fortnight on me. I have to do something tonight as I now have an interview tomorrow too.

Should I put the colour on for the usual amount of time or for less?

Thats annoying that it didnt work. It really worked for me.
I would normally say to make an appointment with the hairdresser but know you dont have the time.
I would put the colour on and keep checking it.
OMG orange...hopefully the roots touch up will do the trick. Let me know how you get on.

missmargot · 22/07/2014 23:37

The vitamin C trick gets great reviews, I think maybe my hair has had so much colour on it over the years it reacts strangely.

I used the new colour and had it on for less than a minute before rinsing it off. I'm letting it dry naturally but it's definitely not as dark as it was this morning and looking at it now I can see some of the natural highlights coming through and not a trace of orange.

Thanks for all the great advice. I have learnt my lesson and will carry on having my colour done professionally from now on!
