What to expect - blonde going grey

I have blonde hair, very fair at the front, less fair elsewhere, with some strong hints of ginger.

I guess it's kind of honey-strawberry blonde.

I've found a couple of white hairs recently, and was wondering if any of you are natural blondes gone/going grey? Can you let me know your experience?

I have to admit I would love to not get on another appearance based treadmill (don't want to dye it)... But... there's a person I work with who had hair a similar colour to mine, but more red, and to be honest it looked kind of dirty for a long time, and looks miles better now it's gone almost fully white.

Help?

So none of you are natural blondes? Wink

I am a brunette so of little help but I do know that people with red hair don't go grey but more 'white' in colouring. Hence your work colleague. Not sure about blonde hair though.

I'm a brunette going grey and using different shades of blonde to blend in the grey.

Friends I know who are blonde going grey are doing pretty much the same as me. Roots come through for them and the top of their hair looks lighter where as for me there is a starker contrast.

I'd recommend speaking to your hairdresser - they may recommend am over the counter toner to blend rather than highlights/low lights.

I'm blonde (although no ginger tones) going grey and I like it. The hairs are a mixture of grey and white and give me lots of silver highlights. I would wait and see what comes through before you commit yourself.

I am blonde/light brown naturally - more blonde in the summer. I've always had grey hair underneath. Now more of the surface hair is going grey. I think it looks ok. It's more silver than grey, and looks ok with the non-grey hair.

I've found that it's not going grey at the root, but 'patches' of grey hairs are coming in so it's sort of like I have silver highlights throughout my hair. Well, that's what it looks like to me anyway Grin and I don't really mind what other people think of it!

If you have a warm undertone to your natural hair than your type of grey will be warm. Grey hair is actually colourless but reflects the tones still left in your hair so the greyer you get the creamer the colour will be until it is white when/if you have no more pigment left.

Creamier even.

Thanks all, I'm going to wait and see, I've only found 4 white hairs thus far... Just wanted to see what the future might hold Grin

Good luck :) It was great for a very long time - the silver hairs gave me free highlights! Sadly, though, I've gone iron grey, not the interesting white I was hoping for. Numerous colour experiments keep leaving me 'ageing blonde' - and with wrecked hair - so I'm stumped for a good solution now. Chill out, though, blondes get away with far more grey for longer than dark-haired beauties!

I'm in my 50s now, naturally being a ginger but now having lots of white hair with ginger tones. I'm wanting to dye my hair metallic grey, will I have to bleach my hair, which I really don't want to do,or can I just go ahead & dye it ? I do have some purple shampoo/conditioner, would this help? Thanks in advance for any advice x
