And yet again, it happens every year. The temperature here was 32c yesterday. Today the shops are full of jumpers and boots <<sigh>>

I took DD shopping today, she wanted a tankini.
In Primark (her Go To shop ) where last time they had summer clothes and swimwear, they had Cosy Socks and lace up leather boots.
Coats, jumpers, cardigans.

M&S had some very Autumnal clothes in.

I expect the school uniform in July now.
But FFS Hmm

I suspect the reason they don't sell much in the way of summer clothes in the summer is because there isn't anything available to buy, other than some seriously ugly tat in unpopular sizes on the sales jumble sale rail. If I go in and it's full of jumpers and coats, I'm just not going to buy anything.

I just bought a winter coat on eBay. I do this every year, as they are so much cheaper when nobody else wants them Grin

I do admit though, a few years back, I bought a gorgeous winter coat for my DD on the hottest day(of the year) in August .

It was wine/purple, soft fleece lined, zip+press studs and below knee length.

I was well pleased even though I got Hmm looks from the cashier .Grin

Once the sales are over they have to re-stock. So they aren't going to put summer stuff back in.

LuckySaint · 22/07/2014 12:47

I've been eyeing up a new coat Blush

And I returned 2 pairs of shorts last week as I'd only be wearing them round the house couldn't possibly wear them out in public and didn't see the point in buying anything just to wear for the next month or so.

The shop thing is annoying though, and I've worked in retail so I understand why etc.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 22/07/2014 12:53

This is one of the reasons I shop mainly on ebay!

ChubbyKitty · 22/07/2014 13:07

Do you know, I work in children's fashion, and this pisses me right off. Angry Especially the snide emails we get from the area manager questioning why sales are dipping.

Erm because no one wants big puffy coats with fleece lined hoods in blazing July? Because who the hell is buying new school uniforms a week before school finishes?

Even when it rained over the weekend and flooded my drive it was still too hot to wear coats, I was out in my slippers and I'm certain steam came off me.

coffeeinbed · 22/07/2014 13:12

And why are the sales so early?

Summer's just starting, sales are over, winter stuff trickling in..
Madness.

ChubbyKitty · 22/07/2014 13:42

It is coffee.

I did ask my boss why this was the case. Apparently parents prefer to buy their kids' clothes for school/winter this early.

Evidently...Hmm

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and need some maternity shorts and other summer bits to cope with the heat, and there's nothing in the shops. I mean, there's not a great range of mat stuff at the best of times but new look, H&M and mother care are full of jumpers and coats. I felt like crying when I was in mothercare yesterday :-( the only shorts that fit are jersey hot pants and they are just not decent! Oh and my husband's boxers...
