Alice Bands that Don't Make You Look Like You're Into Hello Kitty

Chin length, wavy/curly hair with a fringe that normally gets blow-dried so it curves into the rest of the waves, but with this weather..? Not happening.

I've pushed my hair back with a very basic elastic Alice band this evening and it doesn't look half bad (but on the other hand, I've had quite a lot of Proseccos jacked with gin).

So: Alice Bands in your mid-30s: OK or only for indoors with no-one watching?

right, I wear one alot
it isn't en vogue and I don't care but I am a little older than you.

I have a couple of different plastic ones that are a similar colour to my hair.
I like to think it looks like this

For use in the shower, so you can cleanse your face without wetting your hair. That's it.

Use a hair clip, but not an Alice band.

I have a fine wire coated plastic band which I wear and doesn't look like I'm wearing anything...it's about 1mm thick. I bought it from Fenwicks.
Goody at Boots have some nice ones and Accessorize and New Look.
I'm always looking for ones for my children for practicality and usually try them on and then think some are actually quite nice. I like tortoiseshell especially.

I wear one a lot. I have lots of curly hair and in this heat I want it off my face. I got beaded ones from Asda in a pack of 3 for about £5

Completely Ok in the house - it's a yes from me

ygritte can you post a pic or a link of that thin band? sounds just what I'm after!

Bellyrub1980 · 20/07/2014 05:44

I bought this one yesterday

If you look through all the tacky/childish ones they do have a few thin, plain ones. And a few with things like a little bronze leaf on, if you like that kind of thing.

I really like alice/headbands when incorporated into a messy up-do, especially with wavy or curly hair.

Unfortunately I don't have curly hair and I'm rubbish at putting my hair up so have never mastered the look!!

Ah thats nice Smile. You could try dry shampoo on the roots to give a bit of body, I find headbands lie better then?
Or there's something called ojon powder (I think Pixiwoo recommended it on a YouTube tutorial and the results were lovely)

I think this is quite grown up. Not cheap though!
