Is it worth going to the Next sale a bit later on in the morning?

I've never been to the Next sale before (other than finally venturing in days after the main event). I would like to go this time round, but really don't want to go down there at 5am. Has anyone been a bit later in the morning (say 8am) and found it to be worth going? Are there queues, elbows at dawn, and general all-round craziness going on?

I have been before at 10am and still got loads

Lots of shoving though, I am only little and get pushed about a fair bit. I find it helps to take a fairly chunky pram! Makes people move a bit more and push me less!

chanie44 · 18/07/2014 10:00

I've never found it worth a trip at that time. It's worth popping in if convenient, but not worth a specific trip.

peggyundercrackers · 18/07/2014 10:28

Ive never really seen the point of it at all... you do know they buy a lot of stuff in specifically for the sale?

libertytrainers · 18/07/2014 10:31

it all seems to be alot of crap these days and that's before the sale

libertytrainers · 18/07/2014 10:31

saying that though i got a sofa in the sale at a real good markdown, had to carry it home though

Lozzapops · 18/07/2014 10:34

Thanks for the responses. There is an out of town retail park about 10 minutes away from me, I will probably pop down there at the earliest time I can be bothered with, and if it all seems a bit crazy, I'll back away slowly, and not feel like I've wasted my day.

Peggy I guess it's not for everyone, but I really like the style of the stuff in Next, both for myself and my daughter, but would prefer to get it a but cheaper (even if I'm only perceiving it to be cheaper!). I start a new job soon where I will need to wear some semi-smart clothes, so hopefully might pick up a couple of bits.

I might dash up in the morning, just in case they have relaxed skinnies in the sale bit.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 18/07/2014 10:35

I went online last night to order a few bits for the holidays, as I wasn't worried about sale prices, just wanted some clothes for the dc, and a lot is out of stock already. Its ridiculous to have a sale so early, when the children haven't broken up yet, so no one has been on holiday.

I had a list of bout 30 items for he 3 dc and only managed to get 6 of them, the rest completely sold out that weren't sold out the night before but I wanted to show the boys the t-shirts to make sure they liked them, dint matter in the end, all I got was a t-shirt for dd and a pair of denim shorts which I don't think will go in the sale as both were in the autumn preview, and pants and socks for the boys.

I won't be going to an actual sale, I may have an online browse of it tomorrow morning, but the last few years unless you are mad enough to get up and queue to get in at 5 am there doesn't seem much point.

local branch so only about ten minutes away luckily Grin we did look odd

PrincessOfChina · 18/07/2014 10:39

I had a VIP slot on Wednesday and there was naff all. Absolutely naff all. I managed to get one dress for DD and that was it - everything else awful or out of stock already!

plentyofshoes · 18/07/2014 12:17

I had a vip slot at 10 pm and got loads of tops for dd for a £1. These will be ideal for nursery for the next two years or so.
Ordered some relaxed skinnies for me but may have ordered to big...

u32ng · 18/07/2014 12:57

Think it depends how popular the next is.

Me & DH happened upon the sale last year by accident as we were in town & didn't know sale was on. DS was about 6m at the time & we were there about 9.30 & got sleepsuits, socks, swim costume, tops, bottoms & dribble bibs.

No point going late at Xmas though! I was in the queue 20mins before opening & when I left 2hrs later there was almost naff all left!!!

Takesalongtime · 18/07/2014 16:40

Sometimes it's worth going back few days later if you miss initial early morning. People take back their things that they impulse brought and sometimes reduced more. This works for kids stuff. For me I need tall so I managed VIP 7pm on weds and ordered few maxi dresses. Only prob is two won't come before I go on hol. What's all that about??? Why would they take six wks?

PrimalLass · 19/07/2014 09:42

There is more on the website now. There were no relaxed skinnies yesterday. I might never get them though as some are on back order.

The quietest branches tend to be the ones which tend only to attract city workers during the week, and are not high street. I wentto a branch near Liverpool street for the sale, quiet, the branch in Victoria station is a bit busier.

Lozzapops · 19/07/2014 10:20

Well I went this morning at about 7:30 and got an armful of 12-18 month baby girl stuff (baby is 9 months at the mo). I was able to get season-appropriate things, so I'm really pleased. It wasn't busy at all and there was still loads of choice. I could have bought a lot more in the baby section, but had to hold myself back. I didn't really bother with the women's section, I found the amount of Hoover a bit overwhelming, and didn't think the prices were that reasonable. Definitely happy that I went though!
