My jeans keep on falling down!

I am a size 12/14 but jeans in either size just fall down on me! I've always had this problem, and although a belt would solve it, I don't always want to wear one, as it would add bulk to my waistline.

Any recommendations for non-falling down jeans and shorts? It's so annoying to be constantly hitching them up!

Are you pear shaped? I always had this problem until I discovered Levis curve jeans. I get them in the sales and they cost about £50 a pair. Best jeans ever!
However it could be because you are apple shaped in which case I have no advice!

SnoozyGiraffe · 17/07/2014 20:27

I have this! I think it happens when your waist is bigger than your hips (sorry). New look high waisted jeans are good, or jeggings. Next have a nice amount of curve at the waist IME but get the smaller size as they stretch like buggery Grin

WitchWay · 17/07/2014 20:27

Is the problem that your hips are slim? someone might be able to recommend a make.

I have the opposite problem - waists are too big - nothing falls down over my hips and fat bum

peaz · 17/07/2014 20:39

Hmm, yes, my waist is probably bigger than my hips, but only by about an inch. Does that make me pear? Slimmish legs, big busts, wide hips and a tummy, and I'm 5ft 8.

I just had a look at the curve jean. Looks like that might be what I need. Currently on a weight loss mission so maybe when I get to my target weight I will treat myself. If I loose inches on the waist will I then become a different body shape?

Tried high waisted jeans but didn't like them. Admittedly, they were primark ones. Will have a look at new look tomorrow. Or Next closed down so can't go and try them.

Thanks all!

If your waist is bigger than your hips then you are probably an apple. High waisted is def not the answer. They just cut you in half!

Not sure about Levi's, but for me topshop Martha or baxters are the answer. And get them as small as you can do up. They then stretch a bit.

The woes of being an apple

CeeceeBloomingdale · 17/07/2014 22:41

I'm apple shaped. I need a belt. On the plus side I can take my trousers down without bothering with zips or buttons

Bunbaker · 17/07/2014 22:44

"my waist is probably bigger than my hips, but only by about an inch. Does that make me pear?"

No, you're an apple. I am a pear because my waist is 12" smaller than my hips.

yazzy85 · 17/07/2014 23:04

Have you tried dorothy perkins eden jeggings or m&s jeggings? I find they stay up much better than normal jeans

standingonlego · 17/07/2014 23:47

Apple here...only one thing solved this for me...a new belt and lots of squats to get my bum back into a useful place!

standingonlego · 17/07/2014 23:48

that is 2 things....Blush

CointreauVersial · 18/07/2014 01:04

And don't make the mistake of buying jeans which fit comfortably when you try them on. They should be on the tight side because they slacken a lot when you wear them.

It too me years to work that one out....Hmm

dexter73 · 18/07/2014 07:12

CointreauVersial - that is very good advice! Took me years to work it out too. Jeans seem to have a lot more stretch in them these days.

Spottybra · 18/07/2014 07:20

Primark ones always fall down. You need to spend a decent amount of money on a good quality pair of jeans that work for you. Also you need a day to shop around and try loads on.

Dontstepinthecowpat · 18/07/2014 07:31

Second Levi Curve, and if you are near a Costco they are around £30!

OverAndAbove · 18/07/2014 07:35

Assuming you would be wearing a belt under a top, you could try doing it up at the side, which makes it less bulky. I have this problem and it makes it much smoother across the front.

dexter73 · 18/07/2014 07:37

Someone has linked to a belt on Amazon on here before that has a flat clasp so doesn't add bulk. I will see if I can find it but I can't remember the name of it!

dexter73 · 18/07/2014 07:40

I think it was this one Invisibelt

50ShadesOfSummer · 18/07/2014 07:40

What works for me: high waist and always buy the tightest size you can get into - especially is there's any lycra in the fabric. Jeans always give.

TellBent · 18/07/2014 07:46

I third Levi's curve jeans, I'll never go back!

Bunbaker · 18/07/2014 07:49

"Someone has linked to a belt on Amazon on here before that has a flat clasp so doesn't add bulk. I will see if I can find it but I can't remember the name of it!"

I bought one and am not impressed. It is a one size fits all, and as I am slim it goes round me twice.

Bunbaker · 18/07/2014 07:50

I can't see that the Levi Curve jeans would be good for an apple shape. I have some and they look fantastic one me because they fit me properly. They are designed for women who have defined waists and hips, not apple shapes.

EssexMummy123 · 18/07/2014 08:12

Oasis cherry - if you do a search there's been a couple of threads on best jeans for apples, i've bought two pairs and they really are great, no falling down / sagging around the bum - but i do still wear a belt with them.

burnishedsilver · 18/07/2014 08:21

You won't like to hear this but I always had that problem until I lost a bit of weight. My middle was the biggest part of me so there was nowhere for the waistband to sit without slipping down. If I put on a little weight eg after Christmas, my jeans start falling down again. Im a 10/12 apple.

20somethingnomore · 18/07/2014 11:28

I bet you're an apple OP.

You say you've got slim legs and wide hips, but do you have straight up and down thighs and a small bum?

Most jeans do this and as a result, I only have a couple that I wear. I'm a size 8-10 and people will often tell me how lucky I am to be so slim, but actually, it's a bloody nightmare finding trousers that fit me properly.

20somethingnomore · 18/07/2014 11:29

And just to add, it's got nothing to do with size when it comes to clothes fitting well, it's all about shape.
