Apologies if I've misspelled this, but can anybody tell me what this new craze is all about and is it any good? Smile

I've bought a few different makes. They are not worth raving over in my opinion. They do remove make up and are very gentle but they don't give a deep clean. It may look like all your make up is removed but in a magnifying mirror their is still some residue and I finish off with a proper wash to get my skin clean.

They are nicer to use than a lotion but no more effective. They don't sting if you get any in your eyes as they are very mild.

I use it by applying to a baby wipe and then finish cleaning my face with a clean baby wipe soaked in warm water and using Dr Bronner wash to get my face clean and then either splashing on cold water or using the misceller water as a toner.

I've tried two (La Roche Posay and L'Oreal) and both have irritated the skin around my eyes and been relegated to cleaning make-up brushes. Most cleansers irritate my eyelids, it's not just these.

Floisme · 17/07/2014 07:11

It sounds like Witch Hazel with a fancy price to me.

dexter73 · 17/07/2014 07:13

I like the L'Oreal one and it is only about £3 a bottle. Makes my skin feel nice.

WildBillfemale · 17/07/2014 07:17

I use Bioderma - it's a very quick way to cleanse, no rinsing etc. pour a bit on a cotton pad and swipe your face - done.

I don't wear a lot of make up but they have removed eye make up easily.

If you have the best intentions but are too lazy/time pushed to stick to a cleanse/tone/moisturise routine twice a day micellar water may become your new best friend.

(Like wipes but better)

teabox · 17/07/2014 10:12

I use it as an eye make-up remover and a morning cleanse. Wipes leave my face sticky and feeling coated - micellar water feels like water.

I use Bioderma but will try L'Oreal as it's cheaper!

CanaryYellow · 17/07/2014 10:20

I got talked into buying this at the Christian Dior counter, I'm a sucker for new expensive products. It was a total waste of £25. The L'Oreal on is just as good/crap.

So if you're going to try it, try a cheap one.

It's alright for cleaning make-up brushes though.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 17/07/2014 10:55

I've tried a few, including bioderma. The garnier one is just as good. They're not the best things ever but good to keep on your bedside locker... Am I the only one who finally flops into bed & realises makeup is still on? Grin Also good for fixing makeup mistakes.. If my liner goes wonky I put a drop on a cotton bud & I can fix stuff without messing up everything else IYKWIM

TL;DR not life changing but handy

nyldn · 17/07/2014 11:13

They are good for the random night you are just too tired to go through the whole routine, but I wouldn't use everyday. That said, the bioderma pink top is good.

Carpaccio · 17/07/2014 11:15

I've tried a few brands.

To me, they're just non-greasy makeup removers. They don't clean the face properly but they can take some makeup off. I have found that they aren't very good for waterproof mascara, long lasting lipsticks and long lasting foundations.

They're fine for when correcting makeup mistakes (such as wonky eyeliner or a tiny amount of wonky lipstick), but that's about it.

I find that they irritate my eye area if I'm not careful.

I personally will not be buying micellar water again as I think there are loads of better products on the market.

itsnothingoriginal · 17/07/2014 13:40

I love it because I don't wear mascara (doubtful it would remove it) and I'm v lazy about skincare regime. I use the L'Oreal one because I'm also v poor tight and wouldn't dream of spending over £3 on a skincare product!

ilovepowerhoop · 17/07/2014 13:48

I like the Garnier one and my persistent spots on my chin cleared up shortly after starting to use it. I am sure it was under £5 too

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/07/2014 15:04

Superdrug's B one is brilliant (may still be on offer for under £3) - i can clean around my fake lashes without disturbing them or leaving grease ( i am naturally v oily) I've just bought 4 bottles as on offer!

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/07/2014 15:05

and i have v sensitive skin too. but I haven't tried any others

DodobirdVerdict · 17/07/2014 19:32

Bioderma is fantastic for removing mineral foundation.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 18/07/2014 07:15

I've tried the Loreal one, Garnier one but repeat buy the Nivea one for sensitive skin. I use it every day and it removes everything from waterproof mascara to colour stay foundation which sticks like glue! I always have a wash with a warm flannel after and much prefer this than any of the creamy cleansers.
