Salwar kameez gift for friend

I have a friend who hasn't brought herself anything clothing wise for ages and I know she needs some new stuff.

She wears cotton salwar kameez usually with the skinnier leg trousers style and the knee length dress/top. She likes bright colours especially greens and blues.

She is not keen on any fabrics that will make her uncomfortable and sticky.

I can't spend a huge amount of money on each one as she would not be impressed if I did ideally I would like to get her 2 or 3 as I could give her one ASAP them birthday then Xmas but would probably buy them all together.

The only problem is, is that I don't understand about stiched and unstitched or semi stiched or what they mean.i have visions in my head of unstitched meaning exactly that and it just being pre cut fabric that you compleatly sew yourself and semi stiched being you sew everything apart from the sleeves or some other such huge sewing event.

She can't sew she has a disability that means operating a sewing machine would be very painful for her so obviously I don't want to get her anything she has to sew.

Can someone explain this to me please, also any ideas of somewhere in the uk so no international shipping ect where I can buy them either online or over the phone and make sure it's either stiched or where the shop has a stitching service. I cannot ask her where she gets them from as I would like to surprise her.

You answered your own questions! Semi stitched salwaar kameez usually requires the arms & top (kameez) to be tailored to the measurements of the wearer.

Or you could buy her the unstitched material and she could take it to a tailor to get it custom made. I do this and use an ordinary dressmaker as I am petite & find ready made suits too big.

It might be easier to buy cotton & linen material as most ready made suits are man made materials unless you ar buying from the premium range.

Do you live in a town/city with an asian population? If so, go for a look around the sari shops some will sell material & salwaar kameez. Dont buy without haggling as they always inflate the prices in the shops.

Or you could buy kaftan tunic tops readily available in most swimwear depts & then your friend could team it with skinny trousers

No shops that sell anything even vaguely interesting around here unfortunately.

But Southampton is quite easy to get to. I hardly ever go there but they may have something.
