Boden Boots Dilemma - What would you do?

Boden have two v similar styles of low heeled suede boots - one of which I want to buy. I thought I'd order both and try them as have a code for free returns. However, the cheaper boots (£89 synthetic suede) won't be in stock for 8 weeks, according to their website, while the others are in stock now(they're real suede and £145). Obviously, if the cheaper ones are right then I'd rather have those, but don't want to wait eight weeks to find they're not, and that the others are then out of stock. What do you think I should do?

£89 way too much for synthetic boots.

have you looked elsewhere?

what about these? - real suede for £90.

loads more out there...

are the not-suede ones in stock in the wrong colour so you can at least try the fit? Then if they are better than the suede ones, send both back and ask to swap the cheaper ones for the right-colour ones; and if the suede ones are better just send the cheaper ones back for a refund.

You had noticed that the real suede ones have a zip and the others don't, hadn't you?

MaggieW · 12/09/2006 12:07

Ahh - I hadn't noticed the synthetic were pull-ons. Has anyone got pull on suede ones - what's the fit like compared with zip?

Don't have suede myself as I don't find it wears well, but I imagine the pull-ons will be a good fit round the ankle because they're synthetic and hence much stretchier than real suede - almost like wearing socks!

Tutter · 12/09/2006 12:17

oh noo - pull-on boots are a nightmare ime! do you have an extra 5 minutes before you leave the house to fanny around with your boots? if so, then go for it, but if not, beware...!

sorrell · 12/09/2006 12:22

Boden pull on boots are really easy - they are a soft, stretchy material with Lycra and I think they look great, much more comfortable and flattering than clumpy suede boots with a zip. Trinny and Susannah love 'em. HOWEVER my old Boden boots lost their stretch quite quickl (after the first winter) and started - eek - falling down round my ankles like Norah Batty, which was not a good look.

There's 15% off and free returns this week which should help

I like the idea of pull-ons but am looking for a pair of totally flat boots and can only find pull-ons with a bit of a heel. Anyone seen any flat ones on their travels?

MaggieW · 12/09/2006 12:52

M&S have some lovely flat boots - worth a look and quite well priced.

Don't think they'll sell out in 8 weeks at £145 a pair! They had lots them in their sale last year!£89 seems a lot for synthetic boots, you could probably get the same thing for a lot less in a High Street shop, try Clarks or M & S. Stretchy boots are fab though, so comfy and they make your legs look amazing. I had a BHS pair about 8 years ago which I virtually wore to death and they didn't go saggy even though they only cost about £40. I would have thought you could get them for £50 or less nowadays.
