Hair dryer - GHD or Parlux?

I'm buying a new hair dryer this week and can't quite decide which to get. I have mid length thick hair and am rubbish at drying it (or styling) so I always have to straighten if I want to wear it down, would be great to just sometimes be able to dry and leave which it seems the GHD promises?

If Parlux, which seems to be a bit cheaper, which model to get?

Thanks!

I ordered a Parlux 3200 Ceramic and Ionic last week. My hairdresser uses a GHD hairdryer and whilst it makes a better job than I could do, my hair is still quite fluffy and so needs to be straightened afterwards. So, based on people raving about the Parlux dryers on here (no pressure!), I decided to take a chance and order one.

My hair is collarbone length, fine but an awful lot of it so is overall thick, and has a curl/wave/fluffy thing going on which drives me insane (curly underneath, then fluffy and wavy on the top). I'll report back once the dryer arrives.... Smile

Parlux Parlux Parlux!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/07/2014 13:23

This -do you use Loreal extraordinary hair oil ? it's stopped all that frizzy nonsense for me.

ThisIsShe · 15/07/2014 13:27

No, I don't, I will now though! Thanks. Smile

I use Aussie Moisture shampoo, their leave in conditioner and then heat protection stuff (now specific brand, just whatever I can get my mitts on). On a day to day basis I leave my hair to dry naturally, but as it's getting longer it's starting to take far too long to dry - hence the new dryer!

I have a T3 featherweight dryer which has lasted me 8 years and still going strong (my sisters borrow it when they come to visit and always comment on how good it is)

Try John Frieda secret agent finishing cream too, just a minute amount rubbed between your palms and smoother through your hair at the end.

I have thick hair and Parlux means I can dry my hair in 10-15 mins instead of 25+ with my old Toni and Guy one.

So Parlux it is so far then... The 3200 is cheaper then a GHD too!

Dame - I went on an oil hunt yesterday but could only find L'Oreal Garnier Elvive Ultimate Blends Sleek Oil. I'm going to the big smoke tomorrow so I'll have a look for the Extraordinary stuff then - and the John Frieda stuff too.

Do you put it on when your hair is wet, or after drying.... Or both? I put some on dry hair yesterday to try the Sleek stuff out and it did make a difference to the fluffiness. The Parlux is due today so I'm not washing my hair until it's here. Grin

Sorry Mash, I've hijacked your thread a bit! Flowers

I just got the Parlux 3200 in purple for my birthday last week. I think it's the cheapest one. Several people have complimented me on my hair this week and asked if I've had it done!

I am very bad at styling my hair and just blast it (I put a bit of some heat protection spray on and Moroccan oil). The parlux is so strong it gets a bit tangled but brushes out ok. I'm sure it would be even better if I did it properly.

I also have mid-length thick hair and it has cut my drying time in half. Or rather it means I'm less likely to get bored half way through and abandon it to dry frizz naturally.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/07/2014 15:31

The oil goes on after washing and towel drying, smells gorgeous, it's lovely stuff. The finishing cream goes on after blow drying just to smooth down the fly aways.

Did you look in Boots? I think I've seen it in tesco too. It's Loreal elvive extraordinary oil.

ThisIsShe · 16/07/2014 16:31

It came! It's bloody fantastic. I just blasted it and occasionally used a brush to do the ends, but it's so straight I don't need to straighten it. Grin

I used the oil before and after drying it and it's definitely made a difference. It's much smoother/silkier than normal.

There's no Boots near us (we live in the arse end of nowhere), but I'm going to our nearest city tomorrow so I'll have a look then. Thanks! Smile

I got the parlux 385 for my birthday at the end of June. My hair usually took 45mins to dry with a cheapy haor dryer, now it's about 15mins or so. Result! It's lovely and light however it tangles my hair quite a bit & comes as a European plug sockety thingy (Complained to amazon £10 credit!)

parlux 385

Parlux. I officially love mine.

Nevertriedapickledegg · 16/07/2014 18:56

I have a parlux (3200) too and it's excellent. Had it for a few years (7-8 or maybe longer?) and still going strong.

I would definitely buy again in future!

mashpot · 16/07/2014 19:13

Right, I've ordered the 3200 ionic one. Hope I love it! Have noted the oil recommendations too! I don't gave frizzy hair but a bit of product might be nice
