Would I look an idiot in a waistcoat? If not which colour?

considering a Boden (yes, I know) washed velvet waistcoat
here it is
I'd wear it with smart jeans , mannish trousers, possibly nice denim skirt and long brown boots
can't decide whether it's bad idea or whether I'd look lovely
am tall, curvy (as Cod would say not fat, just curvy), very dark hair

whaddyathink?

Are you going to be wearing anything under it? Think it would be uncomfortable myself

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:21

no, bare breasts I think

would wear a shirt underneath, with waistcoat left open I think

I'd go for red.

bundle · 12/09/2006 11:21

the ahem "big thing" this season is a cardi, partly button up to look like (last year's big thing) a waistcoat..

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:21

you see, I thought red at first, but now I wonder whether I would look like a waiter

I only like them closed with a white shirt underneath but I'd find it restrictive to wear like that. Some women look nice in them closed with no shirt underneath but I don't find it all that practical.

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:22

bundle I need a clear yes or no
am I going for last year's fashion then?

CountessDracula · 12/09/2006 11:22

Will you be wearing brogues and smoking a cigar too?

southeastastra · 12/09/2006 11:23

i like it, it would look nice with a plain top, or vest type thing underneath. i lived in a blue waistcoat in the early 90s

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:23

yes CD, and carrying my whip (dh will like that)

hmmmmmmm
red is a bit Panto (oh no it isn't)
the teal is nicer..

are you bothered about it being (allegedly) last season? it's a fairly classic piece.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 12/09/2006 11:24

I think its ugly sorry!

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:24

not bothered about last season tbh
like teal and sage green, leaning towards green (have green eyes, so might be nice)

lou33 · 12/09/2006 11:25

i have some, but i wear them on their own with nothing underneath, buttoned up of course

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:26

yes but lou you can also get away with bikinis and are a sexpot

OP posts:
lou33 · 12/09/2006 11:29

you mean you are not?!!

that's it, i'm not speaking to you again!

bundle · 12/09/2006 11:29

I think they look better with a long sleeved tshirt underneath (than collared shirt)

MrsBadger · 12/09/2006 11:31

god, I hate waistcoats.
I have yet to see anyone at all who is flattered by one.
And it's £40!
At that price I'd get a 'test' one from Asda etc and see how much I really wore it.

lou33 · 12/09/2006 11:33

agree bundle

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:34

am going off the idea now girls
you are going to save me £40
I love you!!!!!

OP posts:
lou33 · 12/09/2006 11:39

£40 would be the deciding factor for me, one of mine was from tesco kids, and cost about a fiver!

lucy5 · 12/09/2006 11:42

Personally, I don't like waistcoats.

LiliLaTigresse · 12/09/2006 11:43

I am one of these people who can't find clothes in supermarkets or cheap clothes shops
just can't
very envious of anyone who can!

If you have green eyes, I could imagine an emerald green colour but murky green colours don't do anything for my skin (blue eyes, pale skin and dark hair). You want to like good in it really. Or go for black?
