Long body / low waist / big boobs

I have a nightmare getting tops to fit. Mostly tops are too short - I think my body is quite long - so I wear tunics/long tops where possible.

To avoid looking slobby, I like the idea of tops/tunics being slightly fitted, but I have boobs that are either too big (36gg) or too low, so anything that has a fitted boob section only fits down to my nipples (not a good look), or if it's stretchy fabric and I pull it down to below my boobs, it shows off an indecent amount of cleavage (& it's too hot to wear vest tops underneath).

What can I do? I know that I'm wearing the right sized bra, I've thought about shopping at pepper berry, but not found anything I like enough to try.

I'm just tired of looking like a slob in loose-fitting stuff because I can't find anything that covers my chest... Anyone experienced this/have any advice?

Are you me? I have the same issue! Watching with interest!

I've got small boobs (but they're quite low down - ) and a really long body and I find some of Boden's stretchy vests and tops are good, and their dresses (and some of their tunics) come in longer length, which is brill. Some of the prints might be an acquired taste though..

Thank you - I was thinking it was just me!
I will have a look at boden. In the past I've always found their tops to be really short, but not looked at tunics/dresses there.

I have a similar problem, although having stared at my boobs for a while just now, I don't think they are too low - just big and with a long waist.
Boden casual jersey dress works for me despite the high waistline, although most of their other dresses end up looking wrong. I agree their tops are good too.
Gap tops too are often longer. Or I buy from the tall range e.g. Next, which does longer t shirts and vest tops.
What about shirts? Cool cotton, can be fitted. IME easier to find longer ones and they also look a bit more together than jersey tops, particularly tucked in … I have pretty much given up on dresses now but the skirt and shirt look works for me, without being too Margaret Thatcher.

I have this problem. I'm fairly tall so the waist of dresses or tops tends to be higher than my waist, plus having bigger boobs brings them even higher.

I find all pepperberry stuff has a v high waist. If you look on the website quite often the waists look much too high on the models. I've one dress which is ok.

H&M is great for simple cotton stretch tops with long arms and body.

I hope someone comes along with some ideas.

I also have a long body and kind arms, hourglass waist but I hold my weight on my thighs and bum. I don't have a huge bust though, so perhaps this is the main problem you have as I find my shape very easy to dress.

Have you thought about a minimiser bra at all? I tend to wear fitted tops, tight t-shirts etc to accentuate the positive. Then leggings and skirts or trousers on the bottom half. Wrap dresses may also be your friend.

sebsmummy1 · 15/07/2014 13:28

Kind arms? Long arms!

Itscurtainsforyou · 15/07/2014 22:05

Thanks all.
Unfortunately I find gap/next still too short for me. H&m is ok in jersey stuff if I buy the long ones, but sometimes a bit more slobby than I'd like.
I'd love to find a shirt/blouse that fits - I have one from la redoute that's ok, but all others either bulge at the boobs or fit at the boobs and look like a tent everywhere else... Any suggestions?
I'm not keen to wear a minimiser bra as my boobs are the only bit of my body I don't have (much of) a problem with (aside from finding clothes to fit them that is)...

Shirts ... Mine are mainly from Boden ( predictable) (their jersey ones are very good at giving a bit of extra stretch although a trifle warm for now) and either T M Lewin or Tyrwhitt (but womens versions). I think its all down to trying it all on and seeing what works. We all believe that some people are just lucky and are the perfect size whatever in every shop but I'm not sure that's true. Reading S and B suggests we all have problems with finding things that fit. For shirts though the gaping is more to do with where the buttons are placed than the size of your boobs and better cut shirts tend to be better (proved for me by trying on larger sizes that still gaped).
I hate minimisers too as they send your boobs round the side oddly!
I have never tried Baukjen tops but people moan they are too long ... And they have long versions. And how about Long Tall Sally?

bookcave · 16/07/2014 09:01

I wear quite a lot of Lands End tops now - their tall range fits me well and seems to always provide enough room for my 34G.And the sleeves are the right length! Endless discount codes with them , so never buy without one. Not the most exciting shop but does a good range of basics and colours. I've had to train myself to give up on most shops for tops - height plus boobs means they;re nearly all too short on me. Don't succumb to minimiser bras, they're a terrible idea.

There's a Polish equivalent of Pepperberry that I've seen recommended on here, I don't know how they measure up for height. I think it's called biu biu.

margaritasbythesea · 16/07/2014 09:48

I posted about having a long body a while ago. I think I was recommended Matalan vests, which are indeed long, American Apparel which I didn't try and, which had never occurred to me before as I am not tall, the tall ranges in shops.

BasketzatDawn · 16/07/2014 19:48

I tend to find Pepperberry dresses too short, and often their fabrics and styles are a bit 'odd' IMO. But one thing I've had that works is the linen shirt. Mine is a couple of years old now but they have one very season I think. Because PB are designed to accommodate the larger bust, it tends to avoid the problem you get with 'riding up' that often women with larger busts get with tops. Also I quite like Dorothy P's cotton tops - I find them just long enough and they tend to come up a little big so there is more fabric to go round. Grin

BasketzatDawn · 16/07/2014 19:50

Another item I quite like from PB is the strappy top - it can look quite neat under a cardi or shirt, and I find them quite long. only problem is if I wash in machine the wires do pop out.
