If you had £350 to spend on clothes what would you buy?

I am in the very lucky position of having £350 to spend but don't really know what I want, I suppose some tops and a jacket/blazer/kimono type thing might be missing from my wardrobe but I need some inspiration, could also do with some boyfriend jeans I think. I have navy and beige chinos and don;t really know what tops to wear with them and any jackety thing I bought would need to go with both. Or I could not bother being sensible and just blow it all on a couple of nice things I don't need.

Just looking for some inspiration really.

I am also contemplating boots similar to the ash jalouse but not sure if they are over now in terms of style.

At this time of year you would be best off waiting for AW14/15 clothes to hit the shops. What is your lifestyle?

Trills · 12/07/2014 21:31

Decent new underwear.

sharingeverythingtwice · 12/07/2014 21:34

I'm a full time student for another year, so the odd bit of professional and work experience and spend the rest of my time on the school run, meeting friends for coffee and not much else to be honest. I am happy to wait for AW clothes but wondered if anyone had seen any great sale bargains.

I tend to keep my underwear regularly updated, although maybe some clothes that are as comfy as pyjamas but suitable for going out to pick up from swimming clubs and sports training wouldn't go amiss.

Apologies for my typing it's horrendous, it should read that I do the odd bit of professional work experience.

I'm late mid 30's, 5ft 6 and a very wobbly 8/10 hourglass.

john lewis have quite a few good bargains this time of year, prices go down week to week. i have seen levis half price in store this week, also lots of french connection (which is also fab this time of year) for sale stuff

libertytrainers · 12/07/2014 21:39

zara also has lots in sale worth looking at if you have one near, online is rubbish as most has gone! def try french connection online though for good jackets/jeans etc

Right now, I would plan for AW. So I would buy this coat: www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0213-3034-1049L00&productvarid=0213-3034-1049L00-DARK%20GREY-8&refpage=outlet/coats-jackets

I would save the remaining £150 to see if Liberty do any Nike trainers in Autumn. If not, I would buy a new pair of knee boots. Kind of sensible really!

sharingeverythingtwice · 12/07/2014 22:12

That's a gorgeous coat Saurus72 but not something I need at all, the trainers idea is good, I've got three pairs of converse I love but maybe it's time for an update.

Your post reminded me of these Saurus and I've just ordered them in grey, not at all what I thought I was looking for when I wrote my op.

So now I have £290 left and definitely think I want a jacket or kimono that will go with both my navy and beige chinos, any recommendations?

Ooh, lovely colours on the trainers. Always happy to help other people spend their money Wink

I would book a complimentary stylist appointment witj John Lewis & Debenhams to give me ideas for AW. This way I would be less inclined to blow it on useless items & buy good usable investment pieces.

I would empty my wardrobe on to my bed & then place the clothes into groups so I can identify gaps & multiple items. It will make you less inclined to spend it all in a hurry but slowly add things when needed.

sharingeverythingtwice · 13/07/2014 11:23

MsVenus are the stylist appointments at John Lewis better than at Debenhams? My few experiences of debenhams have been that they are extremely frumpy a bit like Bridget Jones mother types who have had their colours done and dress as "jazzily" as possible and there is no way I am doing that again. I actually ended up telling them about stock they didn't even know was in the shop and just buying the things I had found for myself anyway.

My sale bargains include
Storm Jeans
Leopard Jeans
Parka
Boots
all with this AW in mind.

Lucky you! Jigsaw have a sale on at the mo with some lovely jackets and cardis in tweed/ merino and some flattering dresses. Just refreshed my working wardrobe with some smart jackets I can combine with dark preggy dresses as bump grows. Jigsaw do casual/formal type wear so good to wear outside the office too. I lurk on eBay way too much but get LK Bennett and designer clothes at bargain basement prices (think £15 for a dress basically new which would have cost £150). Allows me to indulge my shopping addiction with less guilt! Works best if there is a label you like and you know a certain size will usually fit you. £350 should get you a whole new wardrobe if you shop the sales.
