Are there any bra interventionalists about....?

Just wondering if you might be able to shed any light on where I'm going wrong.

Used to be on 36C back in the day. Re-measured myself and I came up at 32G or GG (don't have a tape measure to hand, unfortunately).

I'm in NZ and it's impossible to get small back/large cup bras - in fact, it's basically even impossible to get bras in a 32 back or smaller, even in A or AA cup! Angry

So, I had to order online from the UK.

The G cup just didn't ring true. I have very modest, hollow boobs. Sure, when I lean forward to measure, they swing down like golf balls in socks, but there was just no way they would ever fill a G cup.

I ordered a 32F, and even with all the scooping in the world, the cups were not full.

Tried an E, same thing. So then tried a D and that seemed much better. However, I have back fat?! Even though I scoop, and scoop, and scoop again. Confused I know this suggests the back width is probably too loose, but when I measure myself around the back, under my boobs, it is 32. I can probably get it to 31 if I breathe right in, and pull it super tight.

I am a size 10, BMI 21, but tall with fairly broad shoulders. I know 32 is pretty much on the biggest end of the scale, under the new, improved measuring system, and someone who is a size 10 wouldn't normally be 32.

Any ideas? Should I go down to a 30? It's such a pain having to rely on mail order. I am in London at the mo, but with kids, so not really able to go bra shopping. However any recs for good stockists in central London would be much appreciated.

Thanks

P.S. I usually go for t-shirt style bras, but might I be better off with a different style, balconette, or something...?

definitely try a 30.

Bravissimo, John Lewis and Rigby and Peller could all help in central London. good luck!

strongandlong · 12/07/2014 06:53

30e, so the cup size is equivalent to 32d

PhilomenaCunk · 12/07/2014 06:58

Try Bravissimo if you can get there. They might also be able to suggest a different style that will suit your boobs better. I can't wear full cup as the same thing happens to me as you - so I go for half cup or balconette styles.

Bravissimo! You need a good fitting. They know their stuff and can be quick too. May be worth calling them to book so the kids aren't hanging about too long.

Ah fab, thank you. Can definitely get to Bravissimo this arvo, en route to meeting a friend.

Thanks!

Get to bravissimo... Which bra were you trying out of interest -I'm wondering if this was a case of a totally wrong shape because it's unusual for it to be quite that far out!

JapaneseMargaret · 12/07/2014 08:53

This particular one is M&S - I know, I know, but I didn't get fitted there, just ordered it online.

I like t-shirt bras because of the shape and coverage they give, but in all honesty, they may not be the best style for me.

Moulded t-shirt bras are not a good shape for most people (huge sweeping statement). You can get good coverage in a balconette (padded and unpadded) and a full cup as long as the cup is right.

Bravissimo will sort it out Grin
