Gel nails, any recommendations for LED?

I have been doing my own gel nails for over a year. The issue has been raised on here about long term effects of UV, so I bought a Sensationail kit with a LED light. Well, its rubbish (on me). The gel peels off after a couple of days.

I know not all gels for UV are the same, and people seem to get on with different ones, so perhaps its the same with the gel for LED? I used Gelish and found it quite good. When I had Shellac done in a salon it peeled off very quickly.

I would quite like to persevere with the LED, anyone tried it? Thank you.

I get OPI Gel nails done with led lamp. They last me approx 12 days. Very happy with them, they last and are quick to remove. They withstand lots of housework and mucking out the horses etc.

I use Red Carpet Manicure LED lamp & gel products-lasts around 10 days on me (2 weeks.+ on my Mom). You can get the stuff from Amazon/Qvc/Debenhams.

I have tried Bluesky polishes, and had Shellac done professionally but nothing lasts as well on me.

I have the sensationail one, it took a while for me to do it so it lasts. I've found that if I have baths rather than showers they don't last as long....

Thanks for the replies. I did my nails this morning, and I have just done a tiny bit of light gardening with gloves on, and one of the white tips has just peeled right off (french manicure). This wouldn't of happened with gelish and UV. I am wondering if its the LED, is it not as hard setting, or is it the brand of polish?

I will have a look at red carpet. I didn't know OPI did gels, thanks I will look at those too. Shellac is rubbish on me too (and that was professionally done at a salon).

You can use gelish with an LED light. If you get on well with gelish use that.
Do you lightly buff your nail plate? Then use dehydrator and then bonder on the nail before the base gel coat? These things help stop peeling. Also make sure not to get any gel on your cuticle and run gel along the free edge of the nail to seal it. If you wash up a lot wear gloves and make sure to regularly apply cuticle oil.

I will try the Gelish then, thanks, I didn't know that! Yes I use all those things, and run the polish along the edge. I do have my hands in water a bit more than the average person (my job, can't wear gloves). What happens with the relish is it wears away from the end of my first 2 fingers (the ones getting all the wear and tear) but with sensational it just peels right off within a couple of days.

Is LED being used in salons? Just wondered if its as good UV, or if its the polish that is the issue.
