hair dye that won't bleach hair

I'm 39 with mid brown hair that has a fair peppering of grey. For about the last five years I've worn it mid-length and dyed it every 6 weeks or so with Loreal Castings light brown which did a reasonable job of covering the greys and is pretty close to my natural shade. However, this summer people started to comment on how light my hair was looking and I realised the constant dying must be stripping the colour out of my hair. Rather stupidly I assumed that semi-permanents didn't do anything long-term to your hair, but I've since checked the packet and realised that the hydrogen peroxide in the developer is probably to blame for lightening my hair. Anyway, today I had a look in Boots to see if they had any wash in/wash out colour - the sort I used as a teenager and I couldn't find anything. So do those 6 wash type dyes still exist and will they cover a bit of grey - I don't mind using it every week or so if it won't damage my hair?

What about a colour deposit shampoo?

Or Superdrug have a temp dye called Effects.

Have a look at Adore dyes. They're true semi-permanents (no peroxide or anything else to lighten or damage the hair) and as well as their bright colours they do quite a decent range of natural ones.

As they're completely non-damaging you use it as often as you want. Some people mix the dye into their conditioner so they're topping the colour up each time they use it.

You can also mix the dyes to get a colour as close as possible to your natural shade.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the Adore ones
