Swimming cover up

AnonymousBird · 08/07/2014 12:31

For reasons I won't set out here, I need to cover up more than usual this year when swimming on holiday.

I have seen this:

www.sportsdirect.com/slazenger-boyleg-swimsuit-ladies-354154?colcode=35415495

But am worried it really just will look frumpy and am I better doing a shorts/top combo? If so, does anyone have any good links please? Needs to be snug/body tight, no baggy items due to water based activites requiring "proper" swimwear.

Thanks

I have several of those, and I love it. I don't think it looks really frumpy, more sporty, and not like you are covering up

I have had more than one of those, and agree that they look sporty rather than frumpy (frumpy are the costumes with little skirts, imo). Quite a lot of women at the pool where I go to swim wear them - not all of them fat (tbh, I am both fat and hairy, which is why I go for them).

However, I would caution that the Slazenger ones don't last very well (they lose their stretch and go baggy) and I prefer my new Zoggs one which is a similar style. But the Zoggs is much more ££, so you may be happy with the Slazenger if it's just for holiday - I swim twice a week and they probably lasted me 6 months or so.

Thanks both. My gut instinct is that it would just be sporty, but having never really thought about it before, it's always good to get another point of view. Certainly gives the freedom of movement that I need and looks and feels a bit more like a swimsuit that shorts and a top.

This is something I should only need to wear a few times, this summer, so longevity is no particular worry, cheap as chips is the order of the day!

Thank you.

looks good and will allow you to swim properly. In fact I'm eyeing this up!

if it is just splashing about, boardshorts and rash vest are also a good look and will keep the sun off.

specialsubject · 08/07/2014 16:31

actually - wow, look at the price! Anyone know if the sizing is realistic, i.e. should I order bigger? (I'm 5 foot 7 so length also an issue)

ZaraW · 08/07/2014 16:43

I have a rash guard and swim shorts, I don't tan just turn red, I'd rather be comfortable in the heat than suffer and wear what everyone else is just to fit in.

special subject - I've ordered mine, arrives tomorrow, so can let you know about sizing.

brilliant - that's very kind, thank you. I will watch this space!

BTw if you are doing watersports (e.g. sailing, windsurfing) this kind of thing is ideal if you aren't wearing a wetsuit - but do put a rash vest on top for further sun protection. If you are wearing a wetsuit, a bikini is better as otherwise a toilet stop is a 'get completely naked' session!

CMOTDibbler · 08/07/2014 21:27

I'm 5'9 and it fits true to size, and length is fine

AnonymousBird · 09/07/2014 13:15

I am 5'6" and a size 14 and the size 14 fits me perfectly.

I have a rash vest as well, which I will wear over, but it's close fitting so the combo of this suit plus that has me sorted! I rather like it actually.

Thanks for advice one and all.

and thank YOU - off to place my order!

My dd has one of these. Ideal for water sports.
