Clarks are ruined! What next?

DS is 4.5, I bought him Clarks Doodles (Canvas with velcro straps) a month ago and they are already falling apart.

He is going everywhere on his bike/scooter just now and the solid toes on the shoes are almost worn through from him scuffing his feet along the ground.

Any reccommendations for trainer type shoes with a sturdy toe on them that will last through to early autumn? Don't mind paying £30+ if they are really going to last but money is tight so wouldn't mind a bargain.

Have had Next shoes before and wont be buying again- total crap!

Petasil are another European make that are nice, have only bought them for dd but she rides her scooter and balance bike all the time and they hq've lasted.

If you are in Scotland and anywhere near Livingston you should check out the Skechers at the outlet centre. That's where I get DS's shoes from. They are sturdy, hard wearing and supportive. DS has to wear orthotics due to hypermobility in his ankles and I find he is able to wear the Skechers even without the orthotics. Crocs and Doodle like shoes are really rubbish as there is not enough support.
I used to shop at a reputable independent shoe shop but they sold us a couple of pairs of very expensive shoes that caused no end of problems.

Had to settle for start rite in the same style as doodles, not really sure how long they will last but I'm so limited to what I can get in the town I was in.

They look nice and have a thicker, sturdier toe than the doodles and seem more supportive.... we'll see how long they last.

Hopefully I will be able to find some geox ones when I'm in the bigfer town doing his school shopping.

I don't think your "settling" for Start Rite. In my experience over the last 5 years of buying children's shoes, StartRite are considerably better made than Clark's.
