Dangling earrings have taken their toll..anything I can do?

Apologies in advance if this is uncomfortable for anyone, but I need your advice on ear piercings. After a lifetime's love affair with big earrings my piercings have turned into long slits, running almost to the bottom of my ear lobes. Am covering them up with stud styles, but is there anyway to correct the damage? Thanks in advance.

Watching with interest as an old navel piercing is similar after wearing the bar too long into my first pregnancy before removing. Some years ago now and it doesn't seem much better. Sad

I think there's a small op you can have to reform it... Obviously have to pay though

I'd love to know about this too. My right ear needs sorting get out, although bizarrely my left ear is fine. Presume there's some sort of stitching involved? Confused

My grandmother had this. She went to India, and had the slits 'sewn up'. They healed and slits have no disappeared. She just has normal earrings holes again. I was amazed tbh. Am sure you would be able to get something similar done here. Try a cosmetic surgery/clinic type place?

I googled Grin
It's called ear lobe reconstruction

bewleysisters · 08/07/2014 23:08

And can be done under local anaesthetic!! Do you think it's really expensive? One lobe is nearly ripped through, would like to repair if I could.

I noticed this a few years ago and just switched permanently to studs. Was very disappointed as massive earrings were 'my thing' but I love them now. Sorry, probably not what you want to hear!

Hi op, I don't know about reversing the damage but I use these for comfort and to prevent further saggage. They're really good.

My Mum had this done privately but I don't know how much she paid. It was very simple though and the results were good.

This clinic gives a guide price of from £350 but I just googled for a rough idea of cost, I can't vouch for it.

Thanks all. Avocado - how do they work?

It's like an anchor to stop the earring from pulling on the lobe

Chimchar · 10/07/2014 08:52

you could stretch them and wear tunnels Wink

My friend lobes split completely and she uses superglue. seriously!

avocadoaddict · 10/07/2014 15:13

They're little clear stickers and you put one on the front and back of the lobe. You then push the earring through the sticker where you want the earring to sit. The sticker supports the earring and keeps it in place so it doesn't even touch the bottom.of your lobe, let alone stretch it further. It's a lot less complicated than I have made it sound! I think there are instructions in the pack anyway Thanks
