Bras yet again - going to London.

Hello lovely S&Bers. I have had a bra intervention here before but never got round to buying any actual bras Blush. Well I went to Debenhams and bought some 30Gs which seemed to fit in the shop but when I actually walked round in them my boobs popped out (4 boob) so I brought them back. And then never got anymore.

So I'm looking for 30/32gg bras - measurements are 30 and 40 I think. thing is I am in Dublin and Debenhams is the only place I could find larger bras and they didn't have much in these sizes. However I'm off to London next weekend so can anyone recommend any shops? Will try bravissimo etc but any other suggestions? I'll be staying in Dalston area but will be going round the city a bit I'd imagine.

Also I have very 'soft long' boobs if that makes sense. Not firm at all and hang down quite a bit when I'm standing up and even more when I bend over! Grin

If you are going to london, get yourself to a Bravissimo. There are several including one just off Regent Street. They'll give you an amazing fitting and have a really good selection too so you will be able to try different brands and figure out what works for you.

Measurements would suggest start point around a 30GG btw - but many Debenhams Gorgeous bras run small

ygritte · 05/07/2014 22:12

I wouldn't go anywhere else tbh.The st Margaret's branch nr oxford circus is bigger. Get your name down for a fitting time then shop and return as it can get busy on a weekend.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 05/07/2014 22:36

Great thanks! I'll just go there then. Thanks for the tip on the fitting - I'm assuming they do the 'new' measuring style?

Oh definitely go to bravissimo. They don't use a tape measure and you'll end up with a gob smackingly pornographic bra size (I was 36 D at M an S 32FF at bravissimo!) but they are life changingly brilliant. I am finally comfortable.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/07/2014 23:07

Bravissimo don't use a tape measure because they can do it by eye and by trial and error with bras - but the way their bras fit is basically what the bra intervention method is trying to achieve. I get fitted there myself, but I'm a 30 band who measures 30" (give or take a big dinner!) for example.

I think the very best in London is Rigby and Peller.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 06/07/2014 00:06

Lovely stuff thanks guys. Bravissimo it is. Are they pricey? Can't access their website as my phone provider blocks adult content Hmm

Their bras are generally 25-35 pounds so not too bad -they sell a good mix of bras and brand

NuggetofPurestGreen · 06/07/2014 00:42

Great will get a few to keep me going Smile

not too pricey, they also sell sports bras and tops too

Lweji · 06/07/2014 01:09

They also have clothes to fit the largest chests, but I didn't have time to try them when I went there. Keep it in mind, as the Oxford Circus shop has the fitting rooms in the basement.
And it might be a good idea to book a fitting or you may have to wait for a bit, unless you are prepared to work it out mostly for yourself.

bellabelly · 06/07/2014 01:22

Go to Rigby and Peller. They are brilliant. and summer sale is on

123Jump · 06/07/2014 04:54

I shop in Bravissimo for going out bras-plunge etc, but agree with others above that Rigby and Pellar is amazing. As with Bravissimo I strongly advise you to book a slot, or else you won't get that 1-to-1 service.
R & P are not cheap-above £50 at least. But they are sensational, and if you look afte it they will last ages.

dixiejo · 06/07/2014 08:24

Another vote here for Rigby and Peller, having experienced both R&p and Bravissimo. I bought a bra in R&P about 6 years ago. It cost around £70, which was a very big investment for me, but only in the last month is it showing signs of needing to be replaced. On a cost per wear basis it is the best thing I have ever bought. Once you know your size you can do mail order through R & P too.

GretchenWiener · 06/07/2014 08:30

Why does the basement make a diff?

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/07/2014 08:44

Presumably for accessibility?

ihatethecold · 06/07/2014 08:59

Bravissimo will also let you return bras.
I bought 2 recently in the same size but one I found I couldn't get on with.
They refunded with no question.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 06/07/2014 09:08

Will I be able to return if I'm in a different country though with no access to shops? Maybe could do by post I suppose.

Thanks for advice all. I might venture try bravissimo and then R&P but that sounds a bit pricey for me at this moment in time.

John Lewis and selfridges aren't too far from bravissimo...you could always go and have a look after being measured etc

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/07/2014 11:35

Rigby and Peller are good, but the experience of a few women on here who are around your size is that the choice in the smaller bands above a G cup is still kind of limited and their website does suggest that's the case - they only have 11 bras showing in a 30H and nothing in a GG cup at all (this is probably due to how their brands size) but the choice in 30 bands is relatively small.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 14/07/2014 11:20

Update! Went to Bravissimo Covent Garden on Saturday, had an excellent experience and came away the happy own of some 30G bras (had been wearing 36c!). Really great service, will be recommending to everyone I know. Thanks for your advice S&Bers!

Bravissimo Covent garden are very good. I'd rate them way above Rigby and Peller and their bras are half the price.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 14/07/2014 15:27

Yeah was great.

What's the story with the washing them? Says hand wags only, do you have to stick to that or can you machine wash? Only bought 4, how long will they last?

Thanks!

Once mine get to six months old I bung them in the wash in a lingerie bag. I start with good intentions though!

Advice I got from R&P on hand washing:

  • Fill basin with warm water and detergent
  • Soak the bra for a while
  • Swill about a bit (no need to scrub)
  • Use a nail brush on the wire - where you get all sweaty! Nice
  • Rinse

I rinse by hanging them up in the shower and using the shower head to blast it. Much easier then constantly filling and re filling the sink!

Drip dry
