High heels - do your feet adjust?

Just that really. I'm not a usual heel wearer, other than a low boot and I'm fine inside, but find it uncomfortable wearing them outside on hard ground. However I've seen a pair I covet!

Does this pass and if so, how long does it take?

I had the opposite happen to me - permanently in high heels and straight to flat shoes. Quite sore at first with the muscles straining a bit hut ok after a week or two.

I find they adjust, the more I wear heels the better it feels.

Never worn them enough to "adjust".

Coukd you buy them and only wear them on days you will be sitting down a lot?

feet do mould a bit and become less sensitive to pain, although obviously for the real effect you need to start in childhood like they used to do in China.

the real fugly high ones will knacker your tendons as well as making you look very silly. A small heel is good for feet on hard surfaces, but these have been outlawed in the UK; you can only have dead flat or skyscrapers.

or so I assume from looking in the shops.
