Dry ends

Having succumbed to highlights to cover greys, my hair has become really dry, and particularly where the colour has been applied. I've been looking at the Boots website for something to help and saw this, sorry can't link on my phone. It seems pricy but if it does what it says? Has anyone tried it or can suggest something better. The reviews certainly sound promising.

Charles Worthington Salon at Home Secrets Collection Moisture Seal Intense Rescue Melting Balm 100ml

I don't colour often, maybe once every 3 months (thankfully not too many grey hairs) but fed up with it's condition. I saw a woman on the train who was same age (mid 40s) and she was obviously just letting nature do what it does to hair colour but she looked amazing. She was immaculate and her hair looked in amazing condition, long and shiny - I had such hair envy! I think I'd rather have grey hair than the straw on my head. Ok, slight exaggeration, I've got brown hair so not even as though I am having bleach applied.

This is turning more into a rant about my hair sorry!

I've been reading about coconut oil for teeth cleaning! My hair is very fine although there's quite a lot of it, worried it will weight it down?

I'm 52 and am in the same situation re hair. I have shoulder length hair that's fine but lots of it. I use coconut oil as a deep conditioner whenever I remember and daily on the ends. I warm a bit in my palms and sort of scrunch it through the ends and smooth the top. It's the only thing that works.

Thank you. Off to order some. (Mumsnet always costs me money, ordered a spiralar (sp?) this morning for low carb boot camp!

You can use some oil on your hair to keep it hydrated. I am using some coconut oil on my hair. My friend told me to use Morrocan oil on my hair it will keep your hair from dryness and damages. It's a little bit pricey but I think I should try it.

I've tried Moroccan oil on my hair but found it weighted my hair down which is why I thought I'd try the Charles Worthington balm, reviews seem really positive. I've ordered a small coconut oil to try first as I can use it on the body and for my teeth if I don't like it!
