Very dry leathery legs

Marmaladecat1 · 03/07/2014 18:28

I have the driest, thick skinned almost leathery legs.
Attractive no?

What can I do? I exfoliate with a body mitt thing and moisturise but clearly it's not enough.

They feel dry even after I moisturised but I get a slime of moisturiser. As if it doesn't absorb?

Any ideas?

Thank you

Bio Oil? I use that or baby oil on wet legs. Aldi do a cheap version of bio oil which is good too. My legs look like snakeskin without a slathering of oil or cocoa butter body lotion.

I have really dry legs, and knees, especially. I have tried every moisturiser and the only one that works is flexitol foot moisturiser (not the heel balm as that has 25% urea) with 10% urea. A little goes a long way, and it really really works.

I find The Body Shop Shea body butter brilliant. It keeps my dry skin at bay all Winter, although I use it every single day, and am generous with it - one tub lasts me 3 weeks.

L'Occitane also do 25% Shea butter body butter which is also really good, but very expensive. I sometimes buy it from outlet stores, but it is quite an occasional thing.

In the shower, I find Weleda shower cream really moisturising.

I find that the body butters do mot penetrate my very dry legs at all. Smell great, but dont actually do anything. Flexitol, I'm telling you. Smile

Same here my routine is as follows:

Full leg wax
exfoliate
use a shower mitt
E45 or similar

this works for me

YoniMitchell · 03/07/2014 20:47

I use Eucerin 10% urea intensive cream (c. £13 fr

QueenofLouisiana · 03/07/2014 20:48

Have you tried washing with E45 in the shower? I use it instead of soap or shower gel. It leaves me much softer

YoniMitchell · 03/07/2014 20:49

Bugger!

... From Boots. Found out about it on MN and it's bloody brilliant! You only need a bit and it lasts for ages. It's transformed my legs!

Marmaladecat1 · 03/07/2014 21:40

Ooh urea cream you say?

I have tried bio oil and body oil.

I will get some Eucerin £13? How much?!
I must fix my horrid legs so £13 it is.

The flexitol 10% urea foot moisturiser, which is the one I use on my legs, is about a fiver per tube.

Marylou2 · 03/07/2014 22:38

Eucerin 10% as Yoni says! Awesome stuff.

UML · 03/07/2014 22:40

I like astral cream (blue tub) and have recently started using almond body butter which has worked really well so far.

UML · 03/07/2014 22:43

Moisturise straight after a shower.

ForTheBants · 03/07/2014 22:45

I love Eucerin; it's fab.

I have a sudden patch of eczema on my hand, have never had it in my life before. My mum gave me her Diprobase to try.

It's the best cream ever - and ultra moisturising. I have tried it on my scaly calves and they are so much better.

Bunbaker · 03/07/2014 22:49

Aveeno is your friend.

citygirl1961 · 04/07/2014 09:19

E45 is good. I use E45 wash in the bath and shower, can the actual cream be used as a wash?

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 04/07/2014 11:50

E45 wash for children in the bath has cured my reptile legs!

QueenofLouisiana · 04/07/2014 21:09

Yes, you can wash with the cream- it was designed as a wash, not a moisturiser. It contains something which can dry your skin if it is left on. Just wet your skin, rub on the cream, rinse off.
Dead cheap and very moisturising.

Pollywallywinkles · 04/07/2014 21:25

Wash with Epaderm.

Catsmamma · 04/07/2014 21:31

you have to exfoliate and moisturise regularly....it's the only way!

And once you have shifted the shiny tinfoil/snakeskin keep moisturising, even through winter.
Even once or twice a week will help!

citygirl1961 · 04/07/2014 23:33

I use the E45 moisturiser. Are you thinking of aqueous cream as that is both a wash and moisturiser.
