When did people start to think it was OK to charge 100 quid for plastic shoes?

Haven't been shoe shopping for a while except at TK MAXX but thought I'd check out the sales in House of Fraser to see whether there were any good work heels.

I saw a few plausible contenders (Nine West and Carvela) priced at 48 pounds reduced from 95, but when I checked the bottom, without exception they were all "other materials".

Did I miss a memo? Is it suddenly perfectly normal to charge the best part of 100 quid for plastic shoes made in China? Am I just getting old and should now buy all my shoes from M&S (or New Look, where the shoes are plastic and proud but at least they're priced that way).

I hate this trend. Almost impossible to get shoes that look half decent in leather now. I m just thinking of all the horrible diseased feet everyone will soon have enveloped in horrible sweaty shoes all day, and all the callouses etc where plastic never moulds to feet properly. And they expect us to pay exorbitant prices for this privilege too.

I think thats shocking!! I would not pay £100 for plastic shoes. Infact i wouldnt ever buy plastic shoes as they fire up my feet!

Look at these practically plastic shoes by Stella McCartney for the bargain price of £575.

Hideous.

Reminds me of the 'french ' polyester thread where some twat was justifying the price (£90) of a skirt in Warehouse/somewhere by saying 'yes, but it's french polyester'

If I'm paying more than £40 for shoes I expect leather
If I'm paying more than £50 for a separate I expect silk, cotton, linen, wool
If I'm paying more than £80 for a dress I also expect a material I recognise instead of 'French' jizz

In fairness companies only charge stupid prices because folk are daft enough to pay them. For all those saying they wouldn't spend that much, and I of course wouldn't either, there's some daft mug buying them.

£100.00 for a pair of freeekin pair of shoes. I'd want a share in business for that price. x
