Microdermabrasion with sonicare electric toothbrush?

Just gave myself a microdermabrasion session using CLEAN toothbrush head!

I made a scrub of olive oil and sugar, concentrating on nose and chin where skin is thicker.

Then I ran my electric toothbrush over my whole face for two or three minutes before removing with olive oil and a cloth.

Clean smooth skin! It looks brighter and has been well massaged! Any reason why this is a dreadful idea? I think it makes sense....

Sounds good!!!! Just so long as its not harsh and doesnt leave your skin red i think it would be fine. very ingenious. Sadly i dont own an electric toothbrush otherwise i would have given it a whirl!

I exfoliate with an asda smart price 35p soft toothbrush and so far my skin hasn't fallen off! :)

Great! I was going to complete the microdermabrasion experience by hoovering my face at the end before emptying out my pockets but thought it might be taking things a step too far

same idea as stupidly expensive clarisonic! I do it too, great abs cheap!Grin Smile

I do this about once a week or so, too. Can't see why it wouldn't be OK. As long as everything is cleaned before and after. It makes my skin look polished.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 03/07/2014 20:24

Can I ask what you guys used then, in terms of oils etc.. .?

I use olive oil.

AgathaF · 03/07/2014 21:22

What a brilliant idea. Am off to do it immediately ........

busyboysmum · 03/07/2014 21:26

Can hardly believe there is a tip on this forum which may actually save me money as I have the aforesaid toothbrush, olive oil and indeed sugar already in my possession......

Surely there is an additional item costing around £50 that I need to immediately purchase to make this work? No?

queenofthepirates · 03/07/2014 21:30

Ditto I do it too! Saves £60 a squeeze. I do get tempted into a chemical skin peel a few times a year to top up the experience..... I use rentin-A oil from amazon or ebay every other night to keep the renewal of skin cells a smooth experience.

Abra1d · 04/07/2014 08:12

Oh didn't I mention that it has to be ultra virgin olive oil, pressed by the first-born daughter in a south-facing olive grove in a particular Italian village, busy? Grin

WildBillfemale · 04/07/2014 08:46

Mini Clariosonic (much cheaper too)

FergusSingsTheBlues · 04/07/2014 15:14

Now I've exfoliated my hands which feel amazing, even gave my cuticles a wee scrub and about to embark on me décolleté
