Bra fitting help needed

round2 · 02/07/2014 22:30

Hi,

I read the bra guru information on bra fitting after wearing an ill fitting 34b. I was surprise to find I should be wearing a 32E or 32d.

I went to M&S tried on both and found the 32D a better fit.
I bought a couple the same size got home and they didn't fit!

The one that did fit,the one I tried on, strapless/multiway was great as a strapless on a night out. When I've worn it today as a normal bra it has been so tight it has left marks on the back/sides/straps and felt uncomfortable all day.

Any advice ? What am I doing wrong?

The problem with buying bras is that nearly every one fits slightly differently and therefore it really pays to try every new bra on before buying.

M&S bras are mostly cut to the same few shapes but their sizing is notoriously random!

Red marks are very normal (like the marks you get from socks or a waistband) but they shouldn't be sore or uncomfortable. Multi-way/strapless tend to fit a little differently to other bras and usually have silicon for extra grip (which might be causing the soreness).

Are you scooping?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am now scooping.

With one of the bra's I was still getting the underarm hang after scooping. When I tried on the e it just seemed too big.

What type of bras are they? Padded? Moulded?

It might be that the cup just isn't big enough to keep all the breast tissue in the right place - hence the underarm hang. It might be a style issue. TBH, M&S bras aren't ideal for establishing your 'core' size and shape. Are you near a Bravissimo or JL?

It's a moulded bra. I can travel to a JL. I don't think I'm near a bravissimo.

Is JL better for bras?

JL stock some good quality brands such as Freya, Panache plus brands like Elle McPherson which cater for your size range. The fitting service in JL is pretty good.

I would get to a bravissimo store if you can it's so worth it as they know which styles will suit you also.
