Please don't laugh: How do I get nail varnish off again?

I have contemplated nc for this, because I feel like such an idiot, but here goes:
I took coral red nail varnish off my toes with nail varnish remover. Worked a treat, except for around the edges.
I now have nude nails with coral trims, which is not the best look in the world.

How do I get all the bloody nail varnish off?!? I have tried Q-tips and scraping it off ouch, please help me!

You need to use a base coat first to stop the nail varnish staining the skin and nails.

Use good quality nail polish remover.

Cutex Ultra Cleansing every time for me - this used to be my most hated beauty chore until I discovered it. No more repeated scrubbing with cotton wool, ok it's a bit drying but nothing some Vaseline won't fix.

Hi dexter, it's a bit too late for the base coat now, but I'll remember that for next time!

Might try changing my remover, too. Mine obviously can't cut it.

I've seen people using cotton pads soaked with remover and tinfoil to wrap it onto the nails, then wait maybe 10 minutes.

Then use a good dose of moisturiser after

Wrap cotton wool pads soaked in remover around toes and leave. Have a bath to soften up cuticles and use an orange stick to push back the coral trims. Slather foot lotion on, cover with ankle socks and keep on overnight. Use orange stick again in the morning.

Use body scrub around the cuticles followed by oil or moisturiser.

Q tips here and also when painting nails I try and leave a tiny gap on the sides.
