Face bright red after using face wipe

I brought some good young things face wipes for dd to try but first decided to use one myself. This was about ten minutes ago and I am now sat here with a bright red burning face.

I have rinsed with water but I still look like a tomato and it's really stinging what can I do?

Keep rinsing. What is in those things?
Bloody wipes.

What shouldn't you use again?!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 01/07/2014 22:49

Not sure there's much you can do, other than wait for things to calm down. Now you've had a reaction, there's a possibility anything else could just aggravate it more.
Hopefully someone will turn up with useful suggestions!

As an aside - why were you buying face wipes for your DD? I have sensitive skin, and wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Looks like you might have just discovered you're sensitive, too - good reason to assume your DD might be.

These are the wipes

Thanks I'll keep rinsing.

God - ouch! plain water is the best thing to use for your dd. Maybe some Simple cleanser.

holidayseeker · 01/07/2014 22:58

I brought them for dd as a quick way to wipe her face when she's not going to wash it properly and I had read this company were good for young skin.

They are in the bin now.

I have sensitive skin and find that Superdrug fragrance-free wipes are really good and non-irritating.

Cocktail not sure why you're recommending Simple - it's awful for sensitive skin. Boots' own brand Simple-style range is much better, or their Essentials Fragrance Free range.

Simple is too harsh for my dd. She likes Amie products (Boots & Waitrose/John Lewis).

My skin reacts to many products and wipes and ends up sore and burning, then very dry and back to normal after 4/5 days. The best cure I've found is a combination of sudocreme and Vaseline mixed together and smeared on. It might make you look like a greasy ghost but it works wonders for me.

Thanks for the tips. This morning it's not burning but my forehead feels really rough and dry.

Tommy, I didn't like to mention it, but my go-to treatment for sore red skin is Vaseline! Not tried Sudocrem, but it gave the DCs sore bums which Vas didn't, so I stick to that.

I find it doesn't try to 'do' anything ti the skin, just forms a barrier while it sorts itself out.
