Phase eight dress - can't decide!

So I bought Isabella dress in the sale at the weekend with a view to wearing it to an evening wedding reception (easy feeding access) and then as a general school run / summer kind of dress. But I'm not sure about it. Feel quite frumpy in it, but then I am feel quite frumpy anyway. Would it dress up or down ok? Or is it a definite take back to shop?

I love the idea of dresses but always get them so wrong!

It doesn't look frumpy to me. But if you don't feel great in it RETURN!

malteserzz · 01/07/2014 16:16

If you feel frumpy in it take it back !

Thumbwitch · 01/07/2014 16:17

When I clicked on it, I thought it's ok - then I saw the model wearing it and either she's wearing it very badly or it's not a very well-styled dress.

If you feel frumpy in it then take it back, like mirpuppet says. Or keep it for general wear.

You could dress it up with a fab jacket or something but meh, I'd get something else a bit brighter for the wedding, tbh!

PeachandBlack · 01/07/2014 16:25

I've got that same dress to wear for a wedding with orange/navy/crystal earings and an orange clutch bag. I feel great in mine, but I'm probably bigger thsn you (size 18) and like the way it hides my bad bits!

If you don't feel great in it then look for something else.

MelanieCheeks · 01/07/2014 16:26

I think it looks lovely, not at all frump, and with the right accessories would look stunning.

PeachandBlack · 01/07/2014 16:34

OP - how about something like this from Monsoon instead?

anotherdayanothersquabble · 01/07/2014 16:39

I wouldn't try to find a dress that is suitable to wear to a wedding and to do the school run in, you will find something that is suitable for neither.

HenI5 · 01/07/2014 18:49

I think it's the shoes on the model, not what I'd put with that dress at all. I'd go for bright, high heeled court shoe or a more delicate strappy sandal.

I like the dress and think it would dress up well, but my own experience is that if something doesn't feel right at first, it never feels right.

poshpjs · 01/07/2014 18:53

It's an ok dress but suspect it's reduced because it looks more a style for the tall and willowy due to the fitted waist, copious gathers round skirt and the lack of sleeves.

I'm a size 10 but would shy away from it because full flared skirts make me look dumpy and I also have flabby upper arms.

If you are toned and slim it might work.

SmileAndNod · 01/07/2014 20:11

Hmm. Toned - no. Slim - no. To be fair, nothing ever looks or feels right on me. I never put anything on and think 'gosh I look good' - because these days I don't.

I do like that monsoon dress but I already have two dresses in that colour - neither of which I can feed in.

Think I'm mainly after a dress that will pass for an evening do but then wear again after, as I need to make the most of all of my clothes these days. Completely understand though that seems an impossible ask!

Anything on This link

How about the last one, the Dana in crimson?

HiawathaDidntBotherTooMuch · 01/07/2014 20:44

I think it is really nice! I would wear it dressed up or down. Down for the school run with flat sandals. Up with wedges and a shrug in a really bright colour like orange. Looks like it would wash well, and probably not need ironing either, so very practical Smile
